Toshiba Satellite P205-S6347 Notebook Questions & Answers
I have a Toshiba Satellite
Satellites are notorious for video hardware failure. I have one, and it does the same thing. Usually, when I move the lid during bootup, the screen comes on. But the problem lies in the video chip itself - the Satellites tend to overheat, causing the video chip to become unseated. Google it, you will see what I'm talking about. Type in, satellite p205 video problem or something. Good luck.

To reset the BIOS read the information from this

In case of your HP laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.

My friend got into my settings and did something
he easiest thing to do is get your friend to type in the password to enter the BIOS, and hahve him reomve the passwords. (its his fault, let him fix it!)
If he won't do it, you'll have to locate a socalled CMOS switch on the motherboard. (which involves looking through manuals, opeing the laptop case, finding the switch, and after that manually chane al the BIOS settings back to what they should be) This switch will reset our motherboard to default settigs so the passwords wil be gone, but s said, it's a lot of work and there is a risk your PC won't run properly with these resetted settings.
If it was my laptop I'd get really mad at the friend and kick him until he fixed it, but it's your call.
