Why won't my lap top stay on ac adaptor?

you posibly have a SHORT in the wire for AC power- try another power adaptor./ the other cause could be a bad power jack on the laptop- not an easy fix.

Increase RAM memory to maximum possible in a

This is one of the easiest upgrades you can perform. There is an access panel on the underside of the laptop that usually holds the ram chips as well as the network card but not always. The access door is usally indicated by a single or two small rectangular icons. Remove the screws, the screws sometimes have a washer that allows them to stay with the cover. The covers also have small plastic tabs that are used to hold it securely in place, pry the cover off and there should be two ram sticks sitting in their slots and held on each side by a clip that engages the side of the memory chip. Pull the clips away from the sides of the chip and the chip will spring up 45 degrees from the socket. Pull the chip away at that 45 degree angle and look at the position of the notch cut in the pin side of the chip. Get the new chip and position it the same way for installation, notch in the correct place and chip goes in at a 45 degree angle. Once the chip is seated in the slot push it down untill it click through the holding clips and the chip is installed. When you fire the laptop back up, windows will recognize the new chips if they are seated correctly and there is nothing more you have to do. If they are not seated correctly, the laptop may not even boot...you'll know either way.

Toshiba 215 laptop on, the screen simply reads "Toshiba Innovatio

Hi,
This is a motherboard or BIOS issue.
Remove the adapter and the battery, turn the laptop over and locate the RAM (memory) cover and unscrew it, it will look similar to this >>>
fc5ac1f.jpeg
take out the RAM and clean the contacts and the slots, then reseat the RAM making sure they/it clips into place properly and replace the cover.
You can now try booting the laptop to see if it gets further than the splash screen.

If there's still no joy you may have to remove the CMOS battery (small battery inside the computer), keep it out for 10 minutes, then put it back. (this battery might need replacing)

Here is a complete guide to disassembling the laptop and if you scroll to the bottom of the page you will where the CMOS battery is >>>>

Screen turns black

boot up in safe mode if you can by depressing the f8 key. select options to boot with networking. from there if you are able to get on, go to Toshiba's website and download the latest video drivers and bios. Make sure you flash your bios and update drivers then attempt to boot normally. this should resolve your issue. Let me know if that helps, I have another solution if that does not.

Good Luck!

When I turn on my A215 S7422 Toshiba it give me a password screen

You may need to consult with whoever you're living with. Seems you got pranked.
If you live by your lonesome, keep in mind that only you can put in a user password. This miracle of some virus, or act of something, is not possible. To my knowledge that kind of virus has to be user specific. Targeting you only.
Contact Toshiba for password woes.
