1. If you think its the PC, try looking at the volume setup, lower right of the screen,
2. Check the sound properties by right clicking the speaker icon( if there is one on the lower right, if not you may need the sound driver installed again)
3. try using the restore point if you are using windows 7 and restore the system to a day where the sound is working fine. to use restore point type restore point on the search bar. follow instructions after.
4. still no sound, purchase a portable USB sound device is a cosmetic solution.

First, make sure that your old dell monitor is working. Also make sure that the VGA out-port on your laptop is also working (by using a known good screen on it first)

Connect the Dell screen onto the VGA port of the laptop, then use "FN and F6" to source to the Dell monitor as external unit. There should be a mini screen that pops up where you can choose the monitor with the FN F6 key combination.

Download the recovery CD and device drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure you select the model of your laptop the drivers you that require that matches the Windows version that is installed on your laptop. try logging in with the built in admin account

user: admin
password: leave it blank or try password

if that works go to the control panel/users and reset his password there, log off the admin then youll be able to log back into your sons account

let me know, might have to run a tool to remove his password

Insert OS cd in drive and start reinstalling by selecting repair mode now once all files are loaded system will reboot when you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10
this will give you access to your account also you can reset all passwords
Now restart lappy and let the system boot normally without OS cd in drive
now you will come to old screen and previously configured desktop with all intact aplication and icons on desktop and it will no more ask you for password till you set a new one

Restart the computer. Immediately after the screen goes blank for the first time, or after the BIOS post ends, start taping the F8 key repeatedly. The Windows Advanced Options menu should appear. If the menu does not appear, restart the computer and try again. If the Keyboard has a F-Lock key, you may need to press it first right before pressing the F8 Key. This will have to be done fast before tapping the F8 key repeatedly. Once you are logged in under safe mode, you should be able to create a new user. Do that. Then restart again and let it boot up normally. Log on under the new user.

Those steps will get you onto the computer. As far as retrieving a lost password goes. I'm not sure that you can do it.

There are three buttons near the right internal laptop speaker. The button directly to the right is the dvd drive eject button. One of the ones to the left which has the satellite icon will enable/disable the wifi receiver. The other one with the hand icon (which is the one you're looking for) will enable/disable the touchpad. Hi ,Im interested to have more information of your problem.Whats your first problem, (2) Is there any action you did to try to solve the problem, (3) if yes what is now the results.But from my experience ,there are two main causes for missing/unstable colour.(1) The screen itself might get broken , and the only way to solve this is ,by replacing the LCD screen.(2)Another cause is a broken cable ,or poor connection .the solution is to replace the LVDS cable (or data cable from main-board to srceen).Hope this solves your problem.

They are format and fdisk.These are tools already included with Windows installation discs. Use the menu to delete the partition and recreate.You have a different problem if the machine does not see the hard drive. Look in BIOS and make sure it is there.

I don't follow the question? Connect the laptop HDMI, if it has one, to the TV HDMI. If the laptop doesn't have HDMI port, then use what your laptop has, S-video? Or a Adapter cable, with diferent plug types.
