Hi,

In Acer computer you should have Cyberlink PowerDVD software, please open the software and follow the below mentioned steps

To update the Cyberlink PowerDVD software:
1. Connect to the Internet.
2. Open the Cyberlink Power DVD application.
3. Click the arrow in the upper left hand corner of the window next to Cyberlink PowerDVD.
4. Click on Update Now
5. Follow the prompts to install the update.

Note: The update process may have to be repeated more than once to ensure the latest version is loaded on the computer.
Reminder: Blu-ray protection software prevents Blu-ray movies from being displayed on both the notebook LCD and an external monitor at the same time.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Acer 5520 turns off randomly

can you check to see if the fan is moving, it can over heat and shuts down when the processor gets hot you would not feel it though case. also make sure the vents are clean as this is were the fan blows cooler air over to cool the processor-s down.

My 4 year old Acer Aspire 5520 notebook shuts off

Have you cleaned the cpu fan? The computer has a cpu fan that can get dirty over time. It's job is to keep the cpu cool. When the cpu overheats, the computer senses it and shuts it down immediately, to prevent permanent damage to the cpu. You can clean it by blowing compressed air into it, and should do that every few months, as routine maintenance. This is the most common thing that shuts a laptop down, other problems involve repair, so try this first. I bough a $7 three inch fan at Walmart to help cool the laptop, and when I run it, I never have it shut down on me, but once in awhile it will without the fan, especially when I play dvds or videos, which really work th' heck out of the cpu. There are also commercial laptop cooling devices, but my little fan works just fine. The other thing that could be happening is some problem with windows, which is something I couldn't begin to guess. Hope it's just a bit too much heat.

I have an acer 5520 laptop,it has started shutting

Causes:

1. Overheat

Most cases this is caused by a over heat where the system fan gets blocked or there is not enought air flow, this can damage the system cpu.

Other known causes

AC/ adapter needs to be replaced some case were found that the ac adapter would be the cause as well it would be something to have checked out.

Now if the system shuts off without the ac adapter and its running on the battery as well you might want to look at the overheat issue.

thanks for using fixya please do be considerate and post you ratings and feedback for your answer today. Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/edwy_1a56970cf1ea4620

What will happen if remove battery and unplug my acer PC while still running

DO NOT DO THIS. If you remove the power your computer will turn off immediately. This is especially dangerous if you computer is installing updates which could potentially ruin the OS. If you need to shut down this way (crashes, etc.) I would hold down the power button for about 5 seconds, but even then only do this if you have no other choice.

I need to make videos on my acer!!!??

Capturing video on Acer notebook with Crystal Eye software on Windows Vista UPDATED It seems like a lot of people are having trouble with figuring out how to capture video with their built-in webcam on their Acer laptop. There is not capture video function in the Crystal Eye software that is preinstalled with the computer. Windows movie maker 6.0 no longer have the capture video feature on Windows Vista. I’ve read a couple of ways to actually capture video, but only one way worked for me so I will post that method.
For some reason, Acer hid the capture video function and it is buried deep in the Windows directory.
Go to your root directory (C:\ drive in most case), then open up the Windows folder, scroll down to the folder “SUYIN NB Cam”, open that up and you should see the file “Live Cam”. This program can do video capture. Make a shortcut to your desktop for easy access. Open it up and play with it a little and you should be able to capture video with it.

UPDATE: Some commented on the audio not working. If you have your sound driver installed correctly, try the following: Go “Devices” and select the microphone. For me, it says “Microphone (Realtek High Definition)” and this should give you audio. If this is checked, then that means your microphone is in use and you should be able to record sound.

But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c - Windows Vista: DirectX 10). http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Which-version-of-DirectX-is-on-your-computer Also during a video call at the top of your screen you will see an option to for a video call using yahoo messenger this might vary if you are using another messenger service Open skype go to tools from the drop down list select options scroll to audio settings you can make a free test call before you try to make a call. It is possible to hold a conversation with someone who is not on your friend list, however; if you are trying to talk to someone you have previously chatted with but does not show up on your list of contacts, check to make sure that you have added the person. All of your added contacts will show up on your list; the ones who are offline will have a grayed-out Skype icon and the contacts who are online will have a green icon next to their name. If you cannot see the person's name, you may need to search for them and create a new contact. b> Availability b> Skype users have the option to change their availability when they are signed into the program. The status availability options are: offline, online, SkypeMe!, invisible, away, not available and do not disturb. If the person you want to talk to is signed in but has selected the "offline" or "invisible" availability, you will not see them as online. For the name to show up on your list of online contacts, the person must change their availability. b> Blocked b> If you cannot see a person that you have already added to your list, there is a chance that the person has blocked you. When a Skype user chooses to block you, you will not be able to see anything about availability. Even if the user is online and accepting messages, you will not be able to see the status and messages will remain undelivered. b> Video b> If you are trying to hold a video chat with a Skype contact but cannot see the person, there are several possible reasons. If either of your Internet connections are too slow to support streaming video, the video will not come through. If you have been chatting by text and switch to video, the other person will need to enable the video stream before you can see them. Other culprits can include out-of-date webcam drivers, unplugged webcams or another video-enabled application running at the same time. Share Both Screens in Skype Sign in to Skype and right-click on the contact you want to share screens with. Click "Call" to place a call to the user. When he answers, the Skype call toolbar will appear beneath his avatar. Click the double square icon on the toolbar. This is the share button. Click "Show Entire Screen." Your screen is now visible. Ask the other person to click on the double square icon and then "Show Entire Screen."
