Samsun HT-WX70 overheating and shutting down
The receiver in the Samsung ht-wx70 system that I have runs fine until all of a sudden I hear a loud bang and it shuts off. If I touch the unit, it is burning hot. I took the fan out and it works when I attached it to a 9v battery. Is it the fan or another problem that I should be looking at.
When playing a DVD on
Check the DVD for dust/scratches, for the audio and video are usually on separate parts of the disc. Wipe the DVD with a soft towel, and try it again. If it still lags, then it is a faulty DVD.
PS: If it came from Netflix, you can report a scratched disc to them. It happens often.
Check fan shut down
You fan is damaged , please replace it to prevent your device from overheating
I turn on my system and it works ok for a couple
To answer your question, yes, it is the fan. There will be screws holding the top cover onto the unit; remove these, and find the fan(also remove any dust you find inside, as this also could render the fan useless due to airflow problems). Make sure it's not jammed or clogged or anything such, and plug the unit in, turn it on, and make sure the fan turns on(in some cases, it waits a maximum of one minute to do so.) If it does not turn on after one minute, then a new fan is needed. Any fan with the same size and power connector will do.
System turns off by itself
My unit said "protection", "goodbye" so I opened it up and found a capacitor to one of the speakers had blown, right by the fan. It's a 35 cent part and a simple solder job. The hardest part was getting the face plate off the dvd tray so I could get to the circuit board.
Fan check flashes, then the unit shuts off. I
I am unsure if replacing the fan will work, but to test it, put a vaccum cleaner near to the fan, the rush of air should keep the fan spinning and fool the sensor, see if the unit then powers on, if it does then you know the fan is the faulty item.
Fan check blinks on the display and then shuts the
Can you see or hear if the fan is running? Is there sufficient clearance (4 inches) between it and the nearest surface for airflow? Is it clogged up with dust bunnies? You may be able to fix it yourself.
Unplug the unit. Look inside the vent at the rear. Reach in with a non-conductive probe to see if the fan turns freely. If not, it's bound up and needs replacement or unclogging.
If it turns freely with power off but doesn't rotate with power on, it's dead.
If it turns sufficiently fast with power on and you still have Fan Check, it's a sensor.
Resolve this issue and it will probably stop trying to protect itself by shutting off.
Fan check shows up on display.
