It's detecting a short, maybe in the speakers or a wiring issue. However even if you find the short it might be too late and has damaged the main power amp in the unit.

Both devices have to be able to use a certain HDMI function. And be able to use the highest quality HDMI cable. With those the TV or AV will turn on or off when the other is switched on or off.

That can happen for two reasons. The CDs are copies, CD-R or CD-RW and it can't read the format. Or, if there is copyright software in the unit, which was developed by Sony, it recognizes pirated discs and blocks them from play.
