Hello
You can use system recovery option by following these steps
Press and hold the button to turn on your device.
When the screen turns on, immediately press and hold the Volume + button until the Recovery mode starts (white screen).
Since the system recovery mode is activated, the touchscreen is currently disabled. To move from an option to another, use the volume buttons. To validate an option, press the ON/OFF button.

Hi, I had to perform a hard drive formatting to my Archos 7
Preformat : By Fix-shad0w
#1
Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

Hi here is my problem,
First make sure usb cable connected to harddrive is working fine.
try it in different usb ports.
Press
windows key +R key so you can see run then type in run "devmgmt.msc"
then press ok so you can see device manager uninstall all usb drivers
then it automatic install usb drivers.
then check.
Also you need
to change registry for that type in run "regedit" then press ok then
you can see registry editor then locate below key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
And remove upper filter and lower filter. Then restart computer then check.
If your drive is recognized in my computer then note drive lettter and then go to command prompt and type "chkdsk /f:" without "" where f: is drive letter.
If
your harddrive still not recognized then you need to repair your
harddrive.Try your harddrive in different computer if it is not
recognized on another computer then your harddrive has internal issue.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.
Archos 605 160gb keeps switching off
I save all my data to an external hard drive, restored factory settings and then transfered my data back to the Archos. It seems to be working OK now.
Before anyone else tries this they need to make sure that they have the access codes for any plud ins that they've purchased.
