hi.
it could be the seal on the front of the drum starting to break down.
clean the seal at the front of the drum that seals the door. then rub a white cloth/towel around the seal

if there are any marks left by the seal then the rubber compouds are starting to break down and the seal needs to be replaced.

please feel free to ask for detailed instructions on changing this seal if you need them

The bearing is pressed permenantly into the back half of the outter drun, so that whole drum peice needs replacing.. stupid.. I know

This is a common problem with many machines!
I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which needs a thorough clean! Please pay particular attention to the bit in BOLD near the bottom ;-0)

Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-

• Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
• release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
• lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.

One of these should enable you remove it
(I am having to guess some of the following!)
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.

if the drum bangs all around and is noisy when it's spinning the spider gear is broke.usually it breaks from using to much detergent,in a front load washer you use less water so you need less detergent,you should be using 1/4 cup of h.e. detergent,any more than that damages the spider gear,the metal that it's made out of is like a metal stud that you would use when framing a wall,the extra detergent gets in there and it's like sand paper it eats at the metal and it breaks and the drum feels loose.unfortunetly it's time for a new washer,the gear costs around 4 to 5 hundred dollars not including the time.you can check to see if one or both shocks are broken or check the springs on the top sides under the top panel but it sounds like the spider gear to me.

I mostly answer front load problems anyway but ' out of balance' is a common problem with both!
So- I don't know your particular machine but the initial cure is the same.
It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine, even when empty, has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)

Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine (sorry about my UK spelling!) and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.

If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the internal drum suspension is malfunctioning but I've not had any feedback of this nature.

TRY-it-OUT :
Open the front panel ( can be located down-right to you ) and you can remove the accumulated dirt and scales in it and your problem will be solved

sounds like your timer is bad take the model to sears repair store and get a new one. make sure before that the washer do the other funtions even if you have to advance the timer. if it does then get the timer.

Based on your description and provided your model number is correct ( 41744102300 ) my first suspicion would be a broken basket & worn tub bearing, unfortunately all too common with those Frigidaire.

The tub bearing is likely worn, or the inner basket has broken apart.

You can check this by way of opening the door and grabbing the inner basket rim and moving up and down to feel for play...there should be zero play or zero tolerance in this bearing.

Second, since you`ve removed the back panel, grab the large pulley and try and move it back and forth or spin it with the belt off to listen for a grinding noise.

If it is indeed worn it will require practically the complete tub assembly ( rear wall with bearing and inner basket )...that is the least expensive and easiest fix at around $400 for the entire assembly.

You can opt to change just the rear wall and bearing with the basket in separate pieces, but it comes in around $370 and still leaves you with pulling the old one apart to re-use the front shell.

Either way this is a fairly involved repair and even for an experienced tech like myself can take 60 - 90mins.

Not sure if the same part is broken on yours.

only one belt on machines, ur looking at one of the following

• loose counter weight
• something stuck in drum, eg bra wire, sock
• bearings failing
• broken shaft
• machine not level maybe?

Thank you for your excellent question on how to run all DOS and UNIX commands on a Frigidaire GLTF1670A Front Load Washer using the C programming language. I do not know specifically about washing machines, but there is a version of UNIX which has been ported to toasters that would be a good starting point. NetBSD is a full UNIX operating system written in C, and all the source code is freely available to use and change under the Berkeley License (which basically says, do what ever you like, but don't claim you wrote it). You can download it from netbsd.org. You will also find in NetBSD's excellent package source repositories (pkgsrc) the C source code for both DOS and Linux kernel emulation.

I am sorry that we were not able to help you in time for your class assignment (due the next day!), but perhaps this will help the next student who is given this rather challenging homework.

Your bearings and seal/s need replacement. Not something a non appliance technician should tackel.

You will need to replace the tub rear shell/bearing assembly (part # 131525500).
To do this, practically the whole machine will need to come apart.
To remove the drive pulley, remove rear cabinet panel. Remove the pulley screw and pull back on the pulley (you may need to giggle it as you pull to remove it).
For the shock pins, grab the open end with a pair of vise-grips. On the "pointy" side of the pin press the tab in with your finger (if you can't push the tab in slide a 9/16" socket onto it) and pull the pin out with the vise-grips (twist back and forth slightly as you pull).

A qualified tech could replace the rear shell/bearing in about 1.5 - 2 hrs. I can certainly give you more help if you need it, let me know.

Disconnect the washer from the electrical supply then remove the screws shown holding the rear access panel to the washer’s rear panel and lift the access panel off.



Cushion the bottom of the cabinet opening as shown to avoid hurting yourself with the sharp edge.


Plug the washer in then start a loaded spin cycle to check for belt slippage and the motor operation itself.

Replace the belt if loose or slipping. Remove the belt by turning the tub drive pulley and rolling the belt off the pulley.


Install the new belt in reverse order by wrapping it around the motor pulley and on one side of the tub drive pulley then turn the pulley to the other side in such a way that the belt wraps completely around the pulley. Secure the rear access panel back into position to complete the procedure.
