I have an IOMEGA Screenplay Multimedia Play &= GB. I accidentally formatted it and now i cannot play movies on my TV but only being connect to PC. Can you help me ?

when you buy a drive like the omega it comes with its own folder that contains config files and codecs...doing a complete format you have erased this so any movies played from the drive will not tell the television what codec to use, as your TV cannot use or find the codec on the hard drive it used to have. your tv will play mp4 video, so convert your files on the hard drive using "youtube downloader" (it's free off the internet) use the convert feature and select the convert filetype too ipad video mp4.....and ...select quality as original . convert one or two files and test it on your TV ...guaranteed they will play.....if so....go back and convert the rest...this time select delete original file after conversion, this just helps you not see double ups by deleting the original after conversion. guaranteed 100% works. 732973d7-ed19-4e8d-898b-1e752efd7709.jpg

I forgot hdd password how

Toshiba highly recommends the customer to fully understand what HDD Password is and once registered please keep your "PASSWORD" in a safe place.Your HDD password is different from your BIOS Password. Your BIOS Password is stored in the computer, but your HDD Password is stored in the HDD unit itself. So even the HDD unit is removed from one computer and attached to another, the HDD password is required to access it.If you forget your HDD User Password, TOSHIBA will NOT be able to assist you, and your HDD will be rendered COMPLETELY and PERMANENTLY INOPERABLE. TOSHIBA will NOT be held responsible for any loss of data, any loss of use or access to your HDD, or for any other losses to you or any other person or organization resulting from the loss of access to your HDD. http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB6B01MC000CR01.htm

Driver not found

Disk drives get their drivers as a part of the windows operating system They are all standard. What makes you think you need a disk driver? what is happening? If your disk drive missing the driver it will not boot up, so how do you know it's missing a driver?I'm betting the drive had gone belly up.

My disk drive mk 8037gsx......not

this could be cause by a few problems drivers also a registry or power lead problem
Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete After deleting the keys, close the registry editor Reboot your computer Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. or you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark?! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver hope this helps

Hi, I have a Toshiba 80GB MK8037GSX 2.5" SATA in

1) have checked bios cannot see hdd mounted.

That is BAD -- the disk-drive could have "died".

2) tried a seagate hdd works fine so connections in laptop seem to be working

That shows that your motherboard is GOOD, but that your disk-drive is BAD.

3) can hear hardrive trying to do something as can hear harddrive usual noise, continous noise for about 5 sec before getting the error message

That is BAD -- the disk-drive is "dying".

4) no rattling or crackling noise from drive apart from the above

That is BAD -- none of the files can be read from your disk.

i have created a ubuntu boot up disk which allows me to access laptop but does shows error when locating hdd,

That is BAD.

once in ubuntu i can access internet but it does not show the windows partition of the harddrive, only shows ubuntu as opearing system, confused.

That is BAD. Only the CD/DVD disk has been mounted -- Ubuntu could not mount the disk-drive.

In regards to ubuntu working does this mean the hdd is ok?

No, it means that your motherboard is working.

and is there anyhting i can try via ubuntu to locate the files?

No. The disk-drive is "dead".

There exist commercial "data recovery" services that can try to repair your device, just long-enough to rescue and copy your files. For example, see: https://services.seagate.com/index.aspx?lng=en-US for a "no data - no charge" guarantee.
