The Garmin GPS are among the easiest to use and they have the most complete mapping on the market. To update the mapping, there are several versions of the software integrated into these road gps. To name a few, city navigator version 8 and City Navigator 2008. With a newer version, you have the most recently built streets, new shops, new parking lots, etc.. To update, there are several ways to proceed. First, before you update your maps, I recommend you check if there is a newer version of the maps, visit garmin and download the plugin. You can also view the maps version directly on your gps.

I bought the life time maps updates and I'm glad I did.
I've updated my maps at least 6 times.
New maps are about $70.
Life time maps are about $99 (when I bought mine)
BUT FIRST make SURE you have the latest software in YOUR computer and in YOUR Garmin before you load any maps.

After installing WebUpdater once from the Garmin website, perform all future software updates from your computer. Simply connect your compatible Garmin device to your computer, then run WebUpdater from your computer's "Start Menu" by selecting "Start", "Programs", "Garmin", and finally "WebUpdater"
REMEMBER: It takes hours to do a complete a map update.
Unless you bought the Lifetime maps you may have to pay for current maps.

Our Garmin didn't turn on. We unplugged it, pushed the reset button on the bottom and then plugged it in again and it WORKED

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi running like new:

1. Back up your Favorites.
2. Perform a Hard Reset.
3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

If you bought the satnav in the USA it won't work in Europe. If you bought it in Europe you can download the maps but the full map of Europe won't fit on it. You can fit Western Europe or add and remove countries as you need them. It's probably not a satisfactory solution when traveling with a motor home. You can put the map on an SD card but the nuvi 200W has problems reading maps from SD cards of 2 Gb or more. The map of Europe would take a 4 Gb card to hold it all.

You would probably be better to buy a cheap satnav of Europe. You can get them from http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/xx/617/xx/1914/23/criteresn.html?sSortInfo=Prix-ASC
if you want to buy on line or Halfords shops if you prefer to deal with someone face to face. Some of them cost less than €100 and would be near the same price as buying the map of Europe.

Or if you want a satnav that covers both the USA and Europe and will work in both the Garmin nuvi 1370 or the 2370 would do the job but costs a bit more.

Windows XP is a very old system in computer years. You should probably try using on another computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows 10. If you check the Garmin website it will most likely support what I have described.

The Nuvi 200W is NOT Bluetooth capable, I'm sorry to say. Therefore, there is no option to find.

it was on the box it came in, it is also on a sticker on the bottom of the GPS unless someone peeled it off. it is a number with a bar code

The original message of "No detailed maps to support routing" is typically caused by a missing or corrupted map file. It can also be caused by not having the proper map unlock key installed on the unit. If that problem has been resolved and you can't obtain an address when setting a route, make sure that the map is turned on. Go to settings, select the map icon and then the map info button. Make sure there is a check mark in the square next to the text that lists the map that you have installed on the unit. If the map info button is grayed out, then you still have a map issue. If the square does not have a check mark in it, press the square to place a check mark in the square. This will activate the map. With this unit, you can put several maps on it and you can select which map will be active or inactive with the check mark.
