It just says its looking for signal, but never
take the unit outside so that it has a clear view to the open sky, turn
the unit on, then push the reset onthe side(you need a paper clip). let in sit outside to Aguire the
satellites. this may take upto 30 minutes. if that does not work, you can try the latest update. bill
Reset 255 loader loading frozen
Press the reset button - you'll find it on the lower right of the Nüvi 255, but it doesn't look like a button. It's basically the sticker with all the information on it. It's just enough to push the sticker carefully with something small, not too sharp so it doesn' get destroyed. The Nüvi reboots, the loader loads and proceeds with the software load. Once this is over, shut down the Nüvi and reconnect to the PC. Then, everything works fine (it did at least for me).

RESET THE GARMIN NUVI Start with the unit off ,: press and hold the corner ( cant remember what corner top/bottom//left//right) tye each one: one at a time while olding the screen down on one of the corners press the power switch to the on position your unit should flash a few times then you sould see the logo apear GARMIN ( I would tell you witch button for sure it was but can;t bring myself to reset everything on my unit at this time)(sry :))

In order for your GPS to calculate its own location, it needs to receive data reports from four or more GPS satellites. This process is normally pretty fast. However, this assumes that the GPS has a clear view of the sky.
Obstructions such as tall buildings, trees and local terrain such as mountains and hills can affect your receiver's ability to "see" the sky. This is also true of GPS units used indoors or inside of a vehicle.
A GPS receiver without a clear view of the sky can take a long time to get a fix on its own location. The process can also take additional time if the GPS has been powered off for an extended period of time or if you have travelled a long distance (greater then 500 miles) since it was last turned on.

Hi,
The Soft resets are as follows, all data is safe here now.
If there is a reset hole in the bottom of the unit, Press this in a few seconds,
Or, slide the power key to the left for 10 seconds
Or, hard reset, data loss will occur doing this procedure.
Press the lower right corner of the screen, while turning it on, keep pressing until the pop-up appears.
Press yes to clear all user data.
Now re-register it, and re-update it,
You may need unit I.D. it is in, Menu, tools, settings, system, about.
Sticker on base for Serial number.

Unlock code invalid
Today when I turn it on my sat nav GARMIN NUVI 250 shows to need pin code so pleas help me to unlock it. thanks

Did you try pressing the reset button on the bottom. Its located under the decal. You should be able to press it without having to remove the decal. If that doesn't work, please let me know.
