REGZA 47HL167 TV is difficult to turn on. when

3 flashes of the led light at the front panel is means that the unit is in booting process. The symptoms you've mentioned is caused by faulty electrolytic capacitor in the power supply section.
Look for faulty capacitor with bulged, dome at the top and then replaced it with same ratings. If you have a capacitor checker, it will make you more easy to identify the faulty capacitor without a physical indication of fault.

Toshiba Regza 47wlt66 has sound

Hi.

If you have picture but no sound and problem is not cable settings or source selection, then the faulty part is usually the inverter.

Firs test the TV. Check if there is on screen display (the menu). If OSD is displayed, then the problem is either cable/source settings or a defective input circuit. Try also disconnecting power cord for ten minutes and then up to one hour. Power drain may fix temporary faults.

If all that does not work, then the problem is either inverter or power board. In some case the main controller board may also be responsible.

The inverter is a power board that converts DC voltage from PSU into AC high voltage, powering the whole backlight system. When there is a problem with the inverter the whole screen will be completely dark, while the sound keeps going on.
A problem with the inverter will mean that either inverter is bad, power supply is bad and does not power the inverter, or main board is bad and does not turn inverter on. Those are the three parts that must be tested when the inverter does not fire up ( sound and dark screen). Here broad description of how to test the three parts: Before proceeding...

From a user level point of view, all you should do is disconnecting power cord for fifteen minutes, and testing the TV with different connected devices and different cables (e.g. with a DVD, a receiver box, using a SCART and using HDMI).
Disconnecting power will allow a power reset that sometimes can fix temporary problems (usually not sound but no picture).
Testing different cables and devices excludes the chance of the problem being given by a bad connection.

If that does not work, call the manufacturer at the number listed in the owners manual. Verify warranty status (warranty may have expired 09/10). Make present to the operator that the TV is just out of warranty, and that the fault occurred without you making any wrong use of the TV. Some manufacturer in some case apply special condition.

How do i turn the

This may not be possible; it may be designed to prevent children from operating the set without an adult with the remote present.
You can probably buy an original remote or a known substitute from:

I hooked up an indoor antenna to the TV and select

First try moving your antenna around (see the sites listed below for the direction to point the antenna to get a signal). If the antenna has an amplifier, try unplugging that unit. (When an amplifier fails, no signal gets transmitted.) Similarly if you have several TVs sharing one antenna, remove the splitter and directly connect the antenna to this Toshiba to make sure that it isn't causing the problem.

You may be in an area where an iindoor antenna may not work for you. Tall buildings and trees can scatter the signal to the point where a digital tuner can't get enough signal to "read" the data. Again use the results from the sites listed below to check what stations are likely to be received in your area.

Different TVs have different tuner sensitivities. An amplifier may help bring in enough signal to get the channels. (Signal loss is inevitable. However, if the signal is sufficiently poor, an amplifier may give you more noise and won't help.)

There are two sources for a site specific list of channels: Antennaweb.org and tvfool.com . Antennaweb assumes an external antenna and is very conservative in the list of channel that you should receive. (It lists two channels from one transmitter in my area.) Tvfool will indicate the channels that you should get with different antennas (indoor, outdoor, amplified signals).

A rare issue can be that the tuner in the TV has failed. The only way to check that is trying the TV with different antennas (or in different areas - one with high signal strength).

I hope this helps.

(ATSC (digital OTA signals) are either enough to read or not. You can't get the fuzzy signal of an edge of range analog signal.)

Tv will not turn on

Hello,
The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.
The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.
All these can be checked on the power supply board.
But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.
The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)
You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.
What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).
You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress.
Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.
If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.
I hope this helps.
Regards.

Led light keeps flashing orange,

It sound like you have a bad capictor on the power supply. If you take the back off your tv, you will see little round componets. These are the capictors. The tops should be completely flat. You may need to put your finger on the top to feel if they are bubbled at all. Find the one that is bubbled and replace it

My tv is about 3-4

hi,
You have to check the back light section of your lcd tv. All lcd tvs have back light to illuminate the pixels. Two types of back lighting are there CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent Lamp) and LED. In your tv its CCFL. CCFL need high voltage 1000V or above . For providing this high voltage there is inverter stage ( back light inverter). Also there will be 12 or more CCFL behind the lcd screen. If any on of there CCFL failed the there will come a gray bar noticeable only when there is hight light.

There will be two causes for this problem.
1. CCFL is faulty.
2. The inverter transformer driving CCFL is faulty.

You have to check the inverter fist. For conforming which one is faulty do the following.
There is 10 independent connection for every two CCFL from the inverter board. Try interchange the two nearest connection. And watch is the line is shifting or not after every interconnection. You have to try by interchanging all the nearest to connections for CCFL.

If the line shifted then the inverter board is faulty. If the line stays there then the CCFL is faulty. Normally there will be problem with inverter transformer. If the transformer is faulty then you have to replace the inverter board as a whole.
ok
