Sv2000 - WV20V6 - how to troubleshoot error E 4 54037380

I have the wv20v6 and its doing the exact same thing as all the reviews I have read. This is not a problem from use, its a defect in the machine and I too think the company should help the people fix it. The company should be made to recall or re-imburse people that have this problem. Please add my complaint to the list. Byron Collier in Ninety Six, South Carolina

How can I record teletex

Hi.

You cannot record teletext subtitle if you record straight from the programmed channel on DVD. For that reason you cannot record teletext subtitles using programmed recording.

To record teletext subtitles you need to set the TV as an external input and record straight from TV input..

In order to do this:

  1. Connect a TV OUTPUT to DVD INPUTusing AV Cables (red-white-yellow) or SCART. ( HDMI may not work).
  2. Turn on TV and start teletext subtitle page.
  3. Set the DVD recorder to the TV input using DVD remote (e.g. L1 or L2- Ex1 or Ex2, AV1 or AV2 and similar depending on DVD model) - T know it is the right input set TV on recorder channel and you will see TV channel with teletext.
  4. Start manually the recording.
The recording done in this way will include teletext, on screen display (e.g. volume bar) or whatever is actually displayed on TV.

Regards.

Am i able to record a vcr tape on to a dvd

If the DVD drive is a recorder, then transferring VHS to DVD is possible. Otherwise, if the DVD drive is a player only, recording onto DVD is not possible.

The best way to determine if your DVD deck can record discs, is to insert a blank DVD-R into your unit and try to record/play it. If it can't, you will need a DVD recorder. These are not too expensive to buy, any brand you like, but go for quality, and proven reliability (such as SONY for example), whilst keeping price in mind.

If you absolutely have to, invest in a DVD recorder, and transfer your tapes that way. DVD recorder remotes tend to have more buttons and functions and can be slightly larger than player remotes.

Not the greatest help in the world, but at least it's free advice. Good luck.

I have dish network need

You may want to try a method called a Power Scan to program this. The steps are included below:

Power Scan DVD VCR:
1.) Press and hold the correct VCR button (about six seconds) until all mode button backlights come on, then release.
2.) Press 500 pound (#) then record three times.
3.) With the desired equipment on, press and hold the VCR/DVD button until all mode button backlights illuminate (about 3 seconds), then release.
4.) Press and release the Power button.
5.) Press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desired equipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will power off.
6.) Press the POUND (#) button
If this doesn't work repeat steps 3-6 if the lights at the top of the remote blink rapidly then you have tried all codes possible.

I have an old model of DVD VCR combination,

Hi wishful89,
Try these basic steps below to solve your problem. You should prepare tools and test instrument like multimeter.
Assuming that the disc is good.
1.Clean the lens. - Sometimes because of dust the lens can't read any disc. Try clean the lens by soft cotton buds. Be careful while doing this.
2.Replace the ribbon - Check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser. If you've done the steps above and the symptoms still there then the next step requires you a little knowledge in soldering technique and reading the ohmmeter.
3.Check the motor - Check the motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly.Good motor - reading should be fairly high and it will spin. Bad motor- reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.
Hint : 50% of my repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.
If you confirmed that you have a defective motor then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is too far or too close.
Ifyou already cleaned the lens, and confirmed that the ribbon is good as well as the motor then I would advice you to send it to repair shop because the next step should be done with an expert because it is quite technical diagnosing the fault between the pick-up lens and the main board.
Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day!

Yes! I would agree with you, sometimes I have found a bad capacitor right next to the power transistor, it might show a slight bulge at the top of the capacitor.
