18-55mm lens lid cover

This lens takes a standard 58mm lens cap. You should be able to buy a replacement cap at just about any camera store. If you want to go online, you'll find a selection here.

Timer

Press the Drive-Mode/Self-Timer button (on the back, near the upper-right corner of the LCD panel, marked with a one-handed clock). Select the one-handed clock, then use left/right to select a timer option. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter button.

Lence Error in A580 Digicam-Canon

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

All the pics from my digital canon xti come out

Remove the lens and fire off a couple of shots while watching the inside of the camera. Does the mirror flip out of the way? Does the shutter open and close?

How do you take inside photos with out a flash and

take the unit out into as bright a daylight as you can - the bottom line is you need light, hence flash or you need to take a longer exposure than you can hold - hence tripod - not having either of these means you need to get light into the speaker box You could try household lamps and point a few at the speaker cabinet - remember to set the white balance to tungsten also a camera lens with a good aperature F1.8 - Depth of field (focus) will not be very much at that aperture setting though

Memory card will not lock into down position. will just bounce back up

It seems that the CF reader mechanical assembly part is loose or it has out of place an internal part.

It may be caused by excessive force in pushing/pulling a CF memory card, or due to a manufacturing issueof the camera.

The solution is to open the camera, and check what is causing the problem and fix it.

If it's under warranty, I do recommend you to return it. If not, then you will need to pay for its repair, or do it yourself if you have experience, skills and patience in fixing electronic devices.

Such repair will require some philips screwdrivers, a soldering iron, soldering wire, and a st of tweezers.

There are in internet some guides to open and disassembly Canon XT 350D or Rebel 300d cameras. The disassembly process with the XTi 400D is very similar. You can Google fr such guidelines.

Best regards,
