Repair flash for a C813

You have only a few options for what to do about repairing this camera model. If you have any warrenty store or oem then it is worth fixing as the cost will be negligible. If you have to pay for repairs it will cost you more than just going out and buying a new camera.

You need to do two things first. One is simply make sure the flash is enabled. Some models have buttons while other do this from a menu. The ones with buttons on the back tend to get the flash turned off all the time. If you don't notice this you might end up thinking it is broken when it is perfectly fine. The second thing is simply to check if you have any warranty at all. You may have a warranty from Kodak or one from the store of purchase. You will most likely need your bill of sale to help in finding out. If you talk to the store or Kodak customer support about repairs you should be able to find out what the repair will cost. Kodak may have a repair exchange program. Unfortunately these types of camera are low cost which means almost any repair costs more than the camera does. So generally if you don't have warranty you replace it as it is cheaper to just get a new one. Thats also true of a lot of modern electronics.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

When i connect my kodak

Hi alps_6,

Make sure that you are connecting your camera with the cable that came along with the manufacturer.

If that does not work , then you need to change the slot in which you connect the camera, and then restart you computer by keeping your camera switched on.

This should work and the best practice is to connect the cable first to your laptop and then while your camera is switched off you need to connect the cable to your camera.

After you do this , then you can switch the camera on and then it should directly show up options like mass storage or data storage mode, when you select this mode you will have a removable drive being displayed in your my computer option and it will contain all your image files.

Hope this helps...:) Let me know in case you have any other queries.

My camera will turn on

Hello

Thank you for using FIXYA!!!

This is a suggestion. If you do not feel comfortable trying it, you will need to take the unit to your nearest service centre. Feel free to let me know if you need any assistance.

The problem might be that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

My display is not work

The display of picture not visible can be due to failure of the LCD or the CCD which is the optical sensor of the camera. So to confirm check the older picture to be seen on the display. Confirm this by checking the card on your PC. If the display is not seen, then the LCD can be faulty, fault on the linking cable or the control board.

However if the older images are seen well then the LCD is working correctly and the fault can be failure of the CCD- charge coupled device in the camera. If you have accidently exposed the camera directly to high intensity light / sunlight, then it is possible that it is damaged. Remove the battery and keep the camera aside to reset and try as a last resort.

Replacement of the display is easy once the correct part is received as anyone with a techincal mind can do the job. BUT YOU MUST CHECK THE COST with the dealer as some of them charge the price for service whichmeans it is best to get the work done. Get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.Thank You for using fixya

CANT TRANSFERR PICS FROM CAMERA

They are two different solutions for your camera problem.

A. If your camera stores the pictures on a SD memory card, you can take the SD out of the camera and put it into a card reader connected to the computer.

B. Of course you can connect the camera by the USB cable, but for that to succed you need to download first and install the Easyshare software from Kodak.

here's a link for the software:

Good luck!,

Have inserted new batteries but Kodac easyshare

The camera has errors due to failure of the main control system. You can remove battery and card replace battery and while switching on tap the lens hood on your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck giving wrong inputs to the control unit.
Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. Unless you are familiar with handling of small devices must the camera be opened. If so check the voltage on the motor drive, check the auto focus and Zoom drives, it must be free with manual movement. If jammed the motor can be removed and realased. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service centre.
Get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.

Would like to dowload software

You can download the Kodak EasyShare software from
http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/list/c/890/selected/true

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
