Wont come on when did stuck on recover

First back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and disconnect it from the computer. Then press and hold the play/pause button and turn it on simultaneously. It will then enter recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format and it should work like normal. If it freezes again, then you may need a firmware update.

Tt'll try to load a song (and will then crash.

maybe the file itself is corrupt.

Have you tried with other files?

If you did and they played well all you have to do is to get the song again

No display

Hi
i think that a good firmware update would repair the problem
http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=213&CatName=MP3+Players&subCatID=214&subCatName=ZEN&prodID=16999&prodName=ZEN
Make sure it's the good model and download the latest firmware
download it
connect your mp3 player and run the firmware updater
that should reset your mp3 player without erasing your song and display should be ok
Good luck

Zen Media Explorer keeps saying "Player not connected"

This worked for me - My Zen player had the same 'not connected problem'

From the Start menu, select Control Panel > System. From the window that appears, select the Hardware tab and then click on Device Manager. You will find a listing for your Zen Player - probably under Portable Devices. You may well see that the entry for Zen has an exclamation mark in it - delete this entry by right clicking your mouse. Reboot your PC with the Zen player still attached and you should find that the problem is cured.

Recovery Mode

I agree, use the Reload Firmware tool on recovery mode and then upgrade the firmware from the website. If you get "firmware failed!", then try it from a different computer.

My Creative Zen seems to have frozen up on me.

Use a paperclip to push the reset button throught a small hole on the bottom of the Zen. If the battery is dead, you may need to plug it in for a minute and then push the reset button while it's charging.

Two questions regarding a disabled Creative ZEN

Did you install any drivers for this player?Try installing the drivers for the player if you have any for it then reboot then try plugging it in again to see if the PC sees it.If not,the player is broken. Most likely they can fix it with out proof of purchase but it may cost more then the player is worth.
