20 Most Recent Canon PowerShot G9 Digital Camera - Page 2 Questions & Answers

When my former wife arrived from a European trip, she was very upset because suddenly the Canon G9 I had lent her wouldn't open. It was right before Christmas too. I immediately went on line and found Cameras and Parts which was highly recommended by others. After having an unproductive conversation with Canon in which they claimed their was not a general problem with the G9, I contacted Cameras and Parts. I'm happy to report that the camera was fixed in no time and cost about half of what Canon wanted - plus it was refurbished and works great. So you might try Cameras and Parts.

The Canon G9 has a design defect, two screws fall out inside the camera and short out the fuse. If you've never had it fixed for no power before this is most likely what has happened to your camera.

Do a Google search for "canon g9 no power repair" and you will see a full repair service including return shipping of your camera for just $85.

Hope this helps!

This is usually caused by two screws that get loose and cause a short in the camera. A site that is excellent for help with these is: www.camerasandparts.com All they service are the Canon Powershots and the neat thing is they not only do the repair, they include the service for the camera and the correction for the common no power problem is automatically done during the service. If you have a Canon Powershot, they're terrific for service. It runs $89 all in with the shipping back included, pretty tough deal to beat and they do excellent work on these models.

Yes it is common on the G9 and also the G7 models. It's from loose screws inside the camera. The best place I know of for this problem is camerasandparts.com They have a thing on their site for this problem where they service the camera, fix the problem and do the correction so it doesn't happen again in the camera. They're the best if you need help with a Powershot, that's all they deal with. They charge $89 for everything with the shipping back included. Hope that elps, that's the place if you need help with a Canon Powershot Camera.

This sounds like the typical G9 no power loose screw scenario. This is really common on the G7 and the G9 model. The place for service on these is www.camerasandparts.com They only service the Canon Powershots and they are excellent for help with these. The nice thing with them is they do the fix to those internal screws so it doesn't re-occur on the camera. If you need help with a Powershot problem, they're the place. They have your Canon G9 no power service on their site. All the best looking after it, there great if you need help with one of these.

Definitely worth fixing, the G9 is an amazing camera and many will argue it is better than most of the other models that came out after. Since you have a Powershot, you can have it repaired through www.camerasandparts.com They just deal with the Canons and they are not expensive at all. It runs $89 for everything if you just get their lens error service package. They cover parts, labor, servicing of the whole camera, with shipping back included for $89. The best part, they do outstanding work on the Powershots. If you're going to have it serviced, I would go through them. Ultimately you'd need to decide if it's worth the $89 to have a good backup camera, if not I'll take it off your hands. In all honesty, the G9's are great cameras, don't think twice. Have it serviced and enjoy the camera again. That would be my advice.

You would need to get it repaired, getting close to the holidays it's tough. The place that a lot of people go for help with these is www.camerasandparts.com They just service the Powershots and they are excellent for repairs on these. They used to offer a rush service option on the repairs but I'm not sure if they still do. Look for their email address on their site and email them and ask about time, it's worth a shot. If they still offer that upgrade option on the repair then you'll be totally fine for time. I hope that is helpful anyway, they are totally excellent for repairs on the Powershot cameras. All the best with it.

The camera probably has a loose screw inside which can short circuit something out. If you need to have it serviced, I'd recommend this place: www.camerasandparts.com They are excellent for the Canons and not expensive at all. I know they automatically do a correction to the G9's for this specific problem so it doesn't keep happening too. Good luck with it.

On the back of the camera, on the main dial, you see a flash logo. Press that and on the screen (in recording mode) you see flash automatic and flash off. choose what you ant and press ok. Ready. Did not need a manual for that one.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Probably your memory card is full, you should erase some pictures from the camera and it will work. It happened to my Canon G9 . I erased some old pictures from my memory card and the message Communication Error disappeared.
