How do I take clear action pictures?

You can turn the dial to TV and set the shutter speed faster but you will need a bright sunny day to set it faster than 1/500. Make sure the ISO is set to auto or one of the higher settings. ISO settings are accessed by the FUNC.SET button on the back of the camera. Indoors you can turn on the flash with this setting but I doubt the flash is effective more than 15 or 20 feet. You can also try setting the dial to "kids and pets" which is a more automatic setting.

The lens cover on my Canon A720is will not close.

A stuck lens cover is a fairly common problem, but it is normally easy to fix. A single grain of sand jamming the cover mechanism is normally the culprit, and you want to try to dislodge it. There are many non-invasive techniques that people have come up with to accomplish this. Some may be seen at this blog article. You can also open the lens barrel up to fix the covers, but only as a very last resort. The article also gives examples for this type of procedure.

Wont turn on. new batteries, so thats not the

Things to check first are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Details on what needs to be checked may be seen here. It won't work for every case, but it's worth a try.

I've lost the intall disc for my Canon A720. I'm

This type of question comes up several times a day here at Fixya. Unfortunately, Canon does not offer replacement software disks. You can search eBay for a replacement disk, but would instead recommend that you please see this article, as it describes the use of an inexpensive card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos and videos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue.

This question comes up several times a day here in the camera section at Fixya. But please note, it's very hard to troubleshoot individual software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place?
