The L7780 usually has a duplexer which has a rear access panel on it but this is NOT the panel that the printer detects as open.

In the L7780 anything that is connected/slotted into the rear slot/hole is considered to be the rear access panel. This means the duplexer (which is standard on the L7780) is seen as the "rear access panel".

Inside the slot on the right side you will see a green circuit board with four metal contacts on it. Check that these are not soiled or damaged in any way. Clean if necessary.

On the right side of the dupler you will see only TWO metal pins that spring out and should make contact with two of the contact points. It's possible that these are damaged and/or broken. You may need to free, re-bend, etc... these CAREFULLY so that they stick out properly. Ultimately the goal is to ensure that the metal pins touch the appropriate contacts on the circuit board.

If all else fails, check your warranty and contact HP to see if they can provide a replacement duplexer. If the circuit board itself (in the printer) is damaged though you may need to return the printer itself.

Sounds like the feed rollers need cleaning.
Clean the feed rollers, lint free cloth,bottled water.
wait for them to properly dry

Revolve the feed roller bar as you clean them, to clean the feed rollers all the way round, remove all particles from them.

Check you ADF grips are set correctly, if not you will get mis-fed sheets. check the tray is sat properly too or mis-feeds.

Check paper size is correct in print properties too.
Should be good then

the error P 0 8 means that the ink level in the cartridges is not recognized.
On the printers control board you have a buton that is called Resume/Cancel, it is the buton near the copy black and copy color butons. You can recognize it by the red triangle in a red circle.
Press this buton for at least 10 seconds, if the error is not gone from the first time press and hold the buton for at least 10 seconds for the second time.

Depending on your Canon printer model there are numerous solutions to reset the ink level monitoring to allow print operations. A collection of all the reset procedures, for iP/MP/MX and MG printer models, can be found on the Inkjet411.com site (both document and video versions).http://inkjet411.retailinkjet.com/?page_id=1533

This error indicates replacement of ink cartridge. You can try to reset the printer by turning power off and then switch it on after 20 seconds. If this works, great, else you will have to get new ink cartridge.

Error E1,6 means Ink has run out.

This will either be because your printer is having trouble recognising the cartridges or warning of low ink because the cartridges have been refilled. Connect a computer to the printer and it will hopefully give you more info.If your printer cannot recognise the cartridges try wiping the contacts on the front of the cartridges and re-installing. If your printer still doesn't recognise the ink cartridges then sadly they will need replacing.If it is just a low ink warning then carry on printing untill the printer thinks the cartridges are empty and prevents you from printing. You can them get around this message by pressing the stop/reset/resume button for 5 seconds and continue printing. Apparently I just had the same problem and I managed to fix it! Click on the OK button on the printer to ignore the low ink level error, then you'll be able to print and scan.
