Canon Pixma MX700:one print cartridge not working
The cartridge is only a tank that holds ink. The printhead is the device that you put it into and probably has a blockage in the magenta head. Open the machine so the carriage moves to the center. remove all the cartridges.
TCT How to remove and clean Canon Printhead see the link below. The MX700 may have the locking mechanism at the front of the carriage, so you should move it slightly right and then pull the colour bar forward to release the printhead. carefully remove the printhead. Sit it in a shallow dish/tray of hot water for a few minutes and dry with a paper towel. Put it back in the printer reset the locking bar and cartridges. Try a nozzle check through the tools menu. Yoyu may need to repeat the process if the magenta printhead is badly blocked

Try removing the print head and placing in in a shallow tray of HOT clean water for a few minutes. Then place it on a pad of paper towels to draw ink and water from the print head. Re-install in your printer and run a deep clean cycle. re-test your printer with a nozzle check. If still no ink showing at all, repeat the process. If no success after that, the print head is probably dying. Printheads can be replaced, but it is cheaper to replace the machine.
MX700 printer does not print in black
you have a clogged jet and ink has dried inside i reckon... the only other thing it could be is the message from the logic board (its motherboard) inside printer isnt getting to the print head or print head itself has malfunctioned - i would suggest to fix but it would probably be cheaper to buy a new one but dont give up.... sometimes they do work if you print pages even tho there is no flow and the heat may dislodge blockage if there is one... But heres a video that may help...
Misfeed from the rear tray
there could be a teenie piece of paper stuck in the feed path causing this to happen, you have to visually inspect and ensure it is clear. Use plain paper to test.
rollers may also contribute to problems with feeding paper its good you tried that too.
lastly maybe the photo paper is too thick for that printer?
Scanned documents too light
Might try jet clean cycle. Ink might be old or off brand. What is the brightness code # of the printer paper? The higher the # the brighter the page.
CANON PIXMA COLORS ARE LIGHT
I would manually clean out the printhead, I believe for your model it is a separate unit form the ink cartridge. Please follow these steps bellow.
First you will need to remove the cartridges, then remove the printhead assembly then mix some water and isopropyl alcohol in a 50/50 mixture. You can either use a cotton swab to rub the water and alcohol on the printhead or you can soak the inkjet printhead for around 2 to 5 minutes. This should loosen the dried ink. It may take a few attempts and requires patience. Dry it on a folded paper towel and reinstall it. Print a test page to check quality. If the documents are still printing with poor quality, repeat and soak the printheads for longer.
Let me know if that helped. I had the same issue and this resolved it for me.

This worked for me:Unplug (not just turn off) the printer. Wait at least 20 seconds, then plug it back in. Hold the Feed Switch down, then turn on the printer (continue to hold the Feed Switch down). When the printer finishes cycling the paper feed, release the Feed Switch. Copy anything and it should print. You're good to go.
How to scan a slide on flatbed scanner
This model Canon MX700 cannot scan slides.A flat bed scanner that can scan slides and negatives has a light scource that shines through the slide and negative fand is detected by the scanner sensor.I suggest you purchase a slide scanner, it will be cheaper that getting a new flat bed scanner with slide capability.
