What does an error 5200 mean?

(1) With the printer turned on, unplug it
(2)Open the top and bring the ink cartridge holder to the middle
(3)Raise the gray bar and remove the print head assembly with the cartridges in it
(4) Lower the gray bar with the head missing and close the top with the head out
(5) Restore the power, wait til the printer wakes up
(6) It will tell you to put in the cartridges
(7) Restore the print head, close the top and the printer should resume working.....
it is a printer head error and some solved it that way ..after you do that it will resume the function and work ..

Are power supply failures common with canon mx700

YES. And the price of a new power supply is one third the price of a new printer. Canon are a rip-off!

Where should the telephone wire from fax connect

Hello. One end connects to the printer, the other directly into the wall socket for your telephone. Make sure it is not "behind" and Modem filters you may have also.It is not essential to have this cable hooked up unless you want to use the fax function. The printer and scanner will work fine with out this connected.I hope this helpsRegardsGM

I have a Canon

1.Power reset the printer On the operator panel, press and hold the button for one second. (The display will go blank.)
Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.
Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the button again.
Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
2.Service Reset:
On the operator panel, press and hold the button for one second to power off the printer. (The display will go blank.)
Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.
Confirm the printer is not on and then unplug the power cord from the back of the printer. If the power cord was disconnected (as stated in step 1) in order to shut off the printer, go to step 3.
Press the button repeatedly five times.
Re-connect the power cord.
Press the button to power the printer back on.
Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
Important:
This procedure will not resolve a physical hardware issue. For example, a paper clip is wedged between the paper feed rollers or gears; or, the scanner assembly is detached from the inside housing. This procedure will not resolve all service errors or LCD related anomalies. Service errors appear as four characters (a combination of alpha and numeric codes).
3.Remove ALL the ink cartridges from the printer
Cick HERE
Check that there is no residual tape on the cartridges.
Then clean the contacts (the hole where the ink comes out) on the cartridges as well as inside the printer itself
NOTE: Clean the contacts with a small amount of warm water on a cotton swab until no ink comes off on the swab.
If any of the other cartridges are low, empty, leaking or bulging, replace them with genuine and original ones. Then turn off the machine and unplug it for 60 seconds
Insert the cartridges and check to see if the issue persists
4.Please remove the printhead and clean it, following the steps below:
Raise the print head lock lever.

Tilt the print head slightly towards the front of the machine and lift out gently.
Then try inserting it again If the problem persists, then unfortunately the printhead is defective.
