sorry, that is the incorrect way to enter dfu mode. here is the correct way. Step 1. Plug your ipod into your computer.Step 2. Power off your ipod.Step 3. hold the power button down for 3 seconds.Step 4. while holding the power button, press and hold the home button for 10 seconds.Step 5. While still holding the home button, release the power button AND CONTINUE HOLDING THE HOME BUTTON for 15 seconds. your computer should recognize the device as in dfu mode, install the driver needed, and from then on, you should be able to restore.Sources- i have had an ipod since the very first one, and i have extensive knowledge of jailbreaking and restoring troubles.

its saying that you are in recovery mode. you can try holding down the power button and the home button for 15 seconds, and if that dosnt work, or it reboots and goes back into the same usb and arrow for itunes, you will have to restore in itunes. to do that you need to plug your ipod into the computer, open itunes, select your ipod, and press restore.

Connect it to your computer. Log into iTunes, and do a hard reset on it. That will scrub it clean and reload the operating system. Then you can Restore from back up with no passcode.
