To record to the DVD, connect the A/V cables from the JVC GR-D347U to the A/V In on the DVD recorder. Since the DVD already plays to the TV, you just have to keep the TV set to that input. Put a blank DVD in the recorder. Set the DVD recorder to record on from the appropriate Line In (input) with the DVD as the target recording media. To make sure that all of the devices are on and receiving the output from the camera and DVD recorder, start playback on the GR-D347U and check that it displays on the TV. Forward the tape in the camera to the point where you want to record to the DVD. Stop playback. Press REC for the DVD recorder and restart your playback. This kind of symptom appears in camcorder when its video head got dirty/ clogged, put video head cleaning tape in camcorder and clean head as per instructions provided with cleaning tape.
You can buy video head cleaning tape from Radio Shake or any store.

My solution is use another movie making program. That's what i did with my camera teh GR DV M 90. I found that the quality was better than the one I got down loading to Windows Me. But your probelm is you can't get them to down load at all, right? I tried Window movie maker, the disk download that came with the camera and finally settled with the program that came with my firewire by ADS technologies Pyro Ditigal Video(this one worked better than any. That's the best I have to offer. It make be driver compatibity and programs conflicting with programs you just have to look for what works best or in your case what works at all.

If you are asking about software for transferring your tape to your computer, your computer should recognize when your camcorder is plugged into it and it will install the appropriate driver.

Some cameras (My Sony has one) have got a Silver oxide back-up battery in the camera, these do not live for ever, have you checked it?

your windows pc should have a movie maker program, go to start and then to programs, look around there form windows movie maker.

you have to get them into computer first ..and the easiest way is by following this video...It will help you import them into windows movie maker (windows program) ...and from there all you have is to save to computer ..by choosing them and finish teh movie..
