I plug in my flip

have you installed the Flip video software? Should be pre loaded on the camera but sometimes you have to install it manually. "My Computer" --> "Flip Video Camera". There should be a .exe file there that will install the software, then you can manage your videos. If you have already done this then I would check the USB connection and contact Cisco Support.

My Flip Ultra turns on

I found the solution for mine with the same problem, not sure if it works for others. What I did after plugging it ti my mac with no results other than it staying on when I removed the batteries, I go the idea to hook it up to my windows laptop without the batteries. After that I put the batteries back in (for no reason) and my computer installed the driver for flip again and found the videos that were left on it. I quickly saved these as I wasn't sure what would happen next. After that it had to restart the flip software so I let it. I then unplugged it from the computer wondering what it would do next...(nothing). Well after saving my videos I figured I had nothing else to lose so I pressed the (PLAY+FORWARD+HOLD DOWN THE ON BUTTON) a quick flash and I was watching my videos that I had saved earlier. Like I said not sure if it will work for you but did for me. I sure pays to keep fiddling. :)

I have a brand new

I hate to be the purveyor of bad news, but the bottom line is that you will have to get the camcorder to power up to save your videos. If you exchange it, they will be gone with the exchange. Make sure your charger is putting out the right voltage, and make sure the battery pack is holding the charge.
That's about all you can do, but good luck, and hope this helps.

My minoHD play back is very choppy on the computer

minoHD playback is choppy, period.
This sort of cheap, so called video cameras, have nothing in the way of motion interpolation.
The result is very jerky motion, especially if you pan or tilt the camera.
You would probably be better off using the video capture feature in your stills camera or mobile phone.

My FLip Ultra's screen shows

Sounds like the problem is centered around the LCD display on the camcorder itself. Unfortunately, there's not much that can be done to fix this. If the Flip is still under warranty, you can try to ship it back to the manufacturer for a repair/replacement and I would recommend finding out if that's at all possible FIRST AND FOREMOST!!! I hate to say it, but these camcorders were not made to last long at all. Dropping them from as low as 1 foot could cause it to break for good, even placing them down too hard on a kitchen counter could loosen the internal components so it no longer works. They are (IMHO) cheap in every sense of the word and it might be better to just purchase another Flip, or save up and upgrade to a higher quality camcorder. If you're feeling brave and the warranty is expired, you can try to CAREFULLY disassemble the Flip and find the wires going to the LCD screen to see if they are loose or cut. Or you could try LIGHTLY tapping the side and top of the LCD screen and see if that fixes the problem. If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer! haha j/k You could also try calling Flip's tech support at (888)222-6689.

Personally, I'm in love with my Samsung Full 1920x1080i 60hz HD camcorder I got for only $300 (about the cost of 2 Flips) with touch screen, time lapse, 20x opical zoom, photo IN video, youtube ready video, etc, etc, etc. Talk to your local electronics store (BestBuy, Circuit City, etc.) for their recommendations on a "inexpensive" camcorder, but avoid the term "cheap" as it implies low quality manufacturing. I'm not trying to sell you anything, but just showing you that for just a little more, you can get something that will LAST!

Flip Mino won't turn on!

I had the same problem. Here are the steps I took to fix it.

1. Adjust the power options on your laptop to ensure it does not sleep/hiberate ever.
2. Reset the camcorder by inserting a paperclip into the hole in the tripod mount. Hold the paperclip in there for about seven seconds.
3. Then immediately plug the flip into the cpu.
4. You may not see anything besides the little blinking white light on the USB arm for a while (about 30 minutes maybe) but leave it in.
5. Eventually it should spring to life and show the recharging battery on the little screen (the Flip Share program may start too.)
6. Leave it charging until the little white light stops flashing - full charge about 3 hours.
7. You can then remove the flip and change the power settings back to normal.

I'm having a hard time

I had this charging problem with 2 new Flip Ultra HD cameras...red light flashing..nothing on the screen after plugging in the USB port.

I removed the battery..plugged camera into USB port..pc recognized the camera... installed flipshare software..updated software...plugged battery back in..all good.

Why on earth the book doesn't mention these steps is beyond me.

This is a driver issue, not a problem with your flip cam. Go to the flip website and download the latest driver, install it, then reboot your computer BEFORE you connect your camera up again. Alot of drivers require you to reboot, they just don't TELL you that you have to reboot. I hope this helps.

Lost storage capacity

I had the same exact problem... then someone told me the fix... you have to "empty trash" on your computer (when the camcorder is plugged into your USB) - this will "empty" the trash on your computer, but also empty on your flip too...

I guess what happens when you delete all files from the "100 Video" file is that your camcorder moves all files into its own "trash" (on the device) - so the camera "shows" that there are no videos, but in reality, they are still on the flash memory on the device..

hope this makes sense and works for you.
