Sometimes, when the batteries die, it kills the internal computer. It happened to one of my cameras as well. The cost to have the new computer installed was about $230.00. I took mine to the local professional comouter repair shop and it was returned to me in less than 24 hours and working great. Your price will vary the make, model of camera. Mine was a Canon 5D mk2. Take it there and let them give you the diagnosis and then decide if it's worth it to repair or replace it. Don't use my fee as your guide, unless you have the same camera.
Hope this helps. Mike
Do you hear or see ANY sound or movement as if the camera is trying to bring in the lens? Is there any dirt or debris that could be obstructing the lens mechanism? Did you try to apply light pressure onto the lens as it is in the process to store the lens?

If your camera is in display mode, and the screen stays dark, check the memory settings. (internal / memory card)
Put the main dial to automatic and shoot a picture, to see is anything comes on the screen.
Do you really want the Kodak software?
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
If you really want the Kodak software, you may download it from http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/list/c/902/selected/true
the lack of replies suggests you'd be better off putting a memory card into anything else other than a Kodak easyshare..... just look on here at the amount of Kodak & easyshare problems there are....... but for the record, "GOOGLE" mentions 32GB works fine and class 4 or over.
you can save them to computer via usb, any new photos will store to the memory card.
unaware that you can transfer between device and card as the processor probably cannot handle the data of read and write at the same time.
Hello, You need to either download the images to your PC or delete the images from the internal memory or you need to install a blank memory card in the slot and save images to that card.Best Regards, Russell
Hello, If the streak is only on the screen and not on your photos it means the LCD is bad. If it is on your photos it is the CCD unit. Best regards, Russell
