unfortunately it sounds like the electrical signal component of the tv is beginning to fail or was subject to a power surge, usually if you get dead pixels you will only get dots on the screen, if you get a dead inverter, it simply loses its backlight, so i would suggest it may have to go to a repairer.

The issue you are experienceing is because of a failure of the LCD panel in your television. The only way to fix the issue is to replace the entire LCD panel. This is the most expensive part in your television and is a common issue in Sony LCD's that were released around the same time as your model. There are two types of LCD panels for your model and the right one will depend on your serial number.

Since the repair is so expensive, I would recommend contracting the Sony Customer Relations department and see if they can help pay for the repair or give you a discount on a new television. Their number is 1-239-768-7547 (U.S. only), 1-239-768-7676 for international
There was a warranty extension for the LCD panel in this model but for a issue where you could see line on the screen when the TV is off, which sounds like a different issue you are having. You may have bad power and your TV may be reacting to voltage drops or spikes. Is your TV powered through any kind of conditioner,
surge supressor or filter? If not, you should consider getting one even if its only a $100 item. Stay away from standard or computer power strips though.
Make sure it is not overheating and you have plenty of cooling space around the TV both to the sides and back, if it starts to overheat it will shut down. Or it could be a panel or internal board error. You'll need to get
Sony tech to diagnose the problem. Are you getting any blinking lights when it shuts down? these are a code for the techs to let them know what to start looking at .
