I have a different Sony, but I think they all work the same. Go to menus (Press Home) Then select "Settings" and select "Screen Settings". Set Wide Mode to "full", Auto Wide to "off" , Auto Display Area to "off", Display Area to "normal". I hope this works for you

I think 80% is the panel, and other 20% maybe the t-con board or LVDS cable. rock the cable or cool down the t-con to test it.

To be honest, it won't be a cheap repair. You could be looking at an aging backlight inverter or possibly the CCFL bulbs that light your tv are aging as well. The backlight inverter would be nearly $60-$90 and the CCFL bulbs are close to $20 each @ 12-14 of them.

The capacitors at the main power supply regulator board should be checked and replaced. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair! Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock! Instead, contact the nearest service center!

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Yes this thing start happening to my tv too about 4weeks ago and this goes away in about 15 minutes. TV is only 18 month old and I donot have extende warranty. Please post the solution if someone has got it repaired. Thanks

you can check the sides and the back of the TV if there is any usb ports there is no problem and you can play it from the source menu
