try using the Funai codes that who makes your set

Basically, the TV is trying to power up the screen. If it fail to do so, the TV will automatically turn itself off to protect other part from being damaged inside. Try using the codes for "Funai". I have an Ilo TV that was handed down to me and couldn't program it to my DTV box. I looked up the origins of Ilo, and they're made by Funai. Their codes worked. If that doesn't work, then dig info on Funai. Best of luck!

Call your cable provider they may have a serch code that you can use to auto serch for the code

IF YOU HAD THE TV ON AND PS3 AND PLUGED IN A HDMI CABLE THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED A SHORT AS HDMI CABLES CARRY POWER. YOU WILL HAVE TO GET A REPAIR MAN TO FIX THIS.

Since Sylvania is a product line under Magnavox and Philips, try some of those codes. Often one will work.

The IR detector has failed. it is inside the tv and it is not a do it yourself job.

There are 4 philips head screws down near the base, 2 on each side. Remove those and the base will slide out.
