I have the same problem and it is not speaker wires, cables, or dumb remote codes (really, remote codes.) I'm taking mine in for repair, and not reliying on straw grasping, speculative solutions.

Won't turn on.standby light on,fuse under cover is

The only thing to test would be to disconnect all speaker wires at the receiver then turn it back on. If it still won't turn on, it's an internal power supply issue and will need service. If it turns on, post a comment and I can walk you thru further troubleshooting. Hope this helps

Volume on my Onkyo Receiver

Yes it is. I have the 705. My room mate has the 605. Both AVR's will not have appreciable volume until 50 on the dial.
The dial in not linear. I don't know of anyone who has plotted the scaling of the volume control yet.
I have found much useful user info on avsforum.com. Owners post Q&A based on experiences.
Search the forum for "official onkyo TX-SR605" thread.
Some comparable info may also be found under the "official onkyo TX-SR705".

Onkyo TX-SR 606 KEEPS CLICKING INSTEAD OF TURNING ON WHEN POWERED

Here are your options:

1. An electrical problem, where your receiver has a grounding problem.
2. Your speaker wire connections are actually touching each other and that's why your receiver is not turning on.

Where to connect subwoofer

The subwoofer has its own RCA output on the back of the receiver and needs to be plugged by RCA cable from the receiver to the sub. This would be for an "active subwoofer" with its own amplifier and crossover that needs to be plugged into the wall.

No sound from front left channel

Try swapping the connectors for front-left and front-right (just swap right at the back of the amp)

After the swap, does the front-left speaker work, and now the front-right is dead? If so, then it's a problem in the amp.
If not, then the problem is in the wiring and/or the front-left speaker itself.

Post back here with your findings, and we'll troubleshoot whichever part of the system is broken.

Code for Verizon FIOS remote Control

I have a solution which has worked well for me. It uses the DVD button at the top of the remote. It was a trade-off as none of the codes in the RC144 Philips remote will work any Blu-ray players, so the DVD button was unassigned. The 922, 955 and 977 codes are explained in the directions for the FIOS remote. http://onlinehelp.verizon.net/consumer/bin/pdf/philips%20rc1445302%20user%20guide.pdf
1. Set up your TV button to work your TV.
2. Set up your Onkyo code, pick one to turn on the receiver. I used 3719
3. Use the 9-2-2 code to cycle through all available codes. At about a count of 300 I found one which will turn the Onkyo receiver off. Make sure you start this process with the ONKYO receiver already on. Once you find it press the OK button.
4. Use the 9-7-7 code to power all devices TV, AUX and DVD from the power button.
In this way, each time the power button is pressed it will send both the power on and power off signal to the ONKYO receiver.
This technique works well when you point the remote at the ONKYO receiver and press power button. Apparently the TV has better reception for the signal then the ONKYO does.

Onkyo txsv636

Hello,if it does not power up, then it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby not making it to power on.This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from the mains. A capacitor, fuse, diode, etc may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on.To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.I wish you the best of luck. Good luck
