My Frigidaire wall oven had a high pitch whistle

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I understand you have a Frigidaire wall oven that you have a continual "whistle" noise from...until it shuts down completely, correct ?

Based on this info and specifically it's location, I'd suggest you have a faulty cooling blower motor assembly, thus the unit automatically is shutting down to protect itself from overheating...this is by design.(not the failure, the shutting down)

To gain access the unit must be pulled from the wall as it is located on the right hand side (left from back) of the rear wall, as shown here item #1...

A closer look at the blower fan assembly...

macmarkus_969.jpg

Many times unfortunately the "squirel cage" design of the blower wheel will get covered in grease and other material causing it to go off balance thus wearing the motor bearing prematurely (in my opinion) and ultimately the assembly fails.

I've provided a couple of links below that include the illustration of your oven as well as the link to order the part...one of many places avaialable, I'd also suggest shopping around. The part number is 318073028 and usually around $75-$80US.

I have a Frigidaire Gallery

It looks like the thermal probe is faulty. I am assuming this is a Canadian model.

Please refer this parts catalog and refer item 37 on page 4.

You will need to locate it and find its condition. Most likely it is burnt and confusing the control.

Replace if it looks burnt out. Otherwise post a comment.

My frigidaire ovens broiler came on, on high, when i was baking at a very low temp (170).

If your Frigidaire oven's broiler unexpectedly turned on while you were baking at a low temperature, it could indicate an issue with the oven's temperature control system. Here are a few possible explanations and troubleshooting steps:
  1. Incorrect oven setting: Double-check that you have selected the correct oven function and temperature settings. Ensure that you have chosen the "bake" function rather than the "broil" function. Also, verify that the temperature setting is appropriate for baking.
  2. Malfunctioning temperature sensor: The oven's temperature sensor, also known as the oven thermostat, could be faulty. A malfunctioning sensor may send incorrect temperature readings to the oven control board, causing it to activate the broiler unexpectedly. Consider contacting a professional technician to inspect and potentially replace the temperature sensor if necessary.
  3. Control board issue: The oven control board, which regulates various oven functions, could be experiencing a malfunction. If the control board is sending incorrect signals to the broiler, it may activate when it shouldn't. Consult a professional technician to assess and repair the control board if needed.
  4. Wiring or electrical problem: Inspect the oven's wiring and electrical connections for any signs of damage or loose connections. Faulty wiring or poor electrical connections can cause erratic oven behavior. It's advisable to have a qualified technician examine the electrical components to ensure they are functioning correctly.

Model #FEFL79DSA Frigidaire electric range. 2004 vintage. Last night wife was cooking supper at 350F. After half hour she noticed sizzling sound which was not normal.

Based on the information provided, it seems like there may have been a problem with the oven's thermostat or temperature sensor. It's possible that these components malfunctioned, causing the oven to continue heating beyond the set temperature. Since the issue seems to have resolved itself and the oven is currently functioning properly, it's difficult to determine the exact cause of the problem. However, if the issue occurs again, it's important to have a professional technician inspect and repair the oven to ensure that it operates safely and efficiently. Intermittent issues can be difficult to diagnose and can potentially be dangerous, so it's important to take any signs of malfunction seriously and address them promptly.

I have a Frigidaire oven that's does not heat up to high temp.

If your Frigidaire oven is not heating up to the high temperature, there could be a few possible causes:
  1. The thermostat may be malfunctioning: The thermostat controls the temperature of the oven and if it's not working correctly, it could prevent the oven from reaching the high temperature.
  2. The heating element may be malfunctioning: If the heating element is not working properly, the oven may not be able to reach the high temperature.
  3. The control board may be malfunctioning: If the control board is not functioning properly, it may not be sending the correct signals to the heating element or thermostat, preventing the oven from reaching the high temperature.
  4. The oven may be in a cleaning or self-cleaning cycle: when the oven is in a cleaning cycle, the temperature is raised to a high level to clean the interior of the oven.
  5. The oven may be in a energy saver mode: some ovens have a energy saver mode that decrease the temperature by a certain degree to save energy.
