The self cleaning instructions for my Frigidaire

Hello- The function is automatic when clean button is pushed. Oven will lock, and turn on at full power for about 90 mins. This 'feature' can, and usually does eventually burn out circuits in the control board. Techs call this the 'self-destruct' option, cheerfully promoted by the salesman. Avoid using 'self clean'!  Scrape and clean with light soap/water. Turn on to 450deg. for about 30 min. This is about half the temp. of a 900deg. 'clean' cycle and a lot less expensive in the long run. Please acknowledge this post if info is helpful- have more if needed.- Thanks- Ed

I opened the door while cleaning was in setup and

Hello, welcome to Fixya.

The timer is just indicating the "monitor" switches where interrupted while the sensing of their position was taking place.

Have you tried turning off your breaker at the home service panel ( or unplugging it for several minutes ) ?

If not, turn off your breaker and turn it back on. This should initiate a restart of the component`s back to factory default including the lock monitor switches.

Once you switch the breaker, allow it to go through the start-up process ( don`t open the door or touch the clock ) where the processor (onboard watchdog) checks to make sure all functions are in working order and all switches are in the default position, ready to use.

If it works for you please take a second and rate the answer favorably, if not let me know and we`ll go from there.

good luck

Oven won't get hot

If your oven still uses a pilot light, it also probably has a thermocouple positioned in the pilot's flame path to detect whether if is safe to turn on the main burner. When the thermocouple fails, the oven thinks the pilot light is not lit and will not let gas flow to the primary burners. The part isn't costly (should be <$20 US) but replacing it may require some expensive labor.

GLEB30T8CBA Frigidaire Double Oven

the relay is common for both the bake/broil elements
Changing a basic bake element.
disconnect power first!
1) Remove oven racks, remove the mounting screws from the element mounting plate, found against the back wall of the range oven liner.
2) Pull defective element away from the back of the oven wall as far as the wire will allow ( the odd time, the wires may be too short and you may have to disconnect the wires from the element at the back of the range ).
3) Remove wire lead screws from the element.
4) Replace the element and reconnect the leads ( if only two wires going to the element, it does not matter which goes on left or right wire terminal ).
5) Tuck surplus wire behind insulation.
6) Line up holes and reinstall new element using existing screw.

Main top crack

Hi jerseyfol58,

Hate to say it, but yes. The entire "ceran top" comes as a whole, with the exception of the burner`s.

You might consider purchasing the top but having a pro install it, it is quite involved.

Hope that answer`s your inquiry.

Good luck.

THE OVEN TEMPRATURE IS NOT CONSISTENT.

Usually this is due to a bad temperature sensor. Sometimes it's due to a control board malfunction.

If you can get an accurate measurement of the oven temperature (which is not as easy as it sounds) you can do some diagnosis from the outside:

You need an accurate thermometer or thermocouple into a DVM. Make sure there are no obstructions in the oven (baking sheets, etc). Make sure you are measuring the temperature in the center of the oven cavity.

1. If the average measured oven temperature agrees with the display, the sensor is probably ok. The controller cycles the element on and off, at a rate that results in a correct average temperature. So you have to record the thermometer reading min and max over several cycles.

2. If the sensor seems ok from #1, it can be verified by disconnecting it and measuring its resistance. Should be 1080 ohms at 70F.

3. If the sensor seems ok, but the oven temperature is erratic, then it's probably a control board issue. We repair these at www.fixyourboard.com
