i just got dect 6.0 uniden 2060-2 phone. i have fully charged the phone using base. on screen phone is showing "searching" text and everytime i try to go thro' menu->register base, it tries for few minutes and shows message "registration failed". what am i missing? the manual is useless. thanks much in advance
I had a similar problem which I finally fixed. You did not say if any of your phones registered.
First try the following recommended by Uniden Support:
Your phone(s) should be fully charged before putting them on the main base.
Unplug the battery from the phone by removing the battery cover and removing the connector. Then, push the # and * key together and hold while you plug the battery back in (requires some dexterity). Continue to hold the two keys until you hear a confirmation tone. This will force the phone to reregister. Put the phone on the main base (if you are sure it has a fully charged battery) and see if it will reregister it to solve the problem.
That did not work for me. So, I followed the instructions to de-register the handset (even though it hadn't really registered). But, I also pretended like the Base was not available (because using the base in this step also failed).
1) Press and hold the hang up and # keys for at least 5 seconds.
2) Move the cursor to select Base Unavailable and then press Select.
3) Select the base you want to deregister from, press Select and then move the cursor to Yes and select.
This causes the phone to delete any of its base information.
At this point, again insure that your phone shows the battery is fully charged and if it is not, put it on the stand alone charger base (not the main base). With the battery fully charged, place it on the base and try registering again by placing it in the main base.
If neither of these approaches help, contact support at Uniden.com.
However, my problems were cleared when I cleared the handset with the second set of instructions.

How do I change the outgoing message on my Uniden 6.0 1580??????? Digital answer machine.
Recording a Personal Greeting
Your answering system comes with a pre-recorded outgoing message or greeting that plays when you receive a
call: “Hello, no one is available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone.” You can record your own
personal outgoing greeting. Your recorded greeting must be between two seconds and thirty seconds long.
Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the
messages unless it has no messages.
Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the
system is in the command waiting mode.
Press 8 to start the recording. The system announces, “Record greeting.” Begin recording after the
announcement.
When you finish recording, press 8 again or press 5. You will hear a confirmation tone, and your recorded
greeting plays back for you.
Selecting a Greeting
Once you have recorded a personal greeting, the phone automatically switches to your personal greeting. You can
also switch back and forth between the pre-recorded greeting and your own greeting at any time.
Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the
messages unless it has no messages.
Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the
system is in the command waiting mode.
Press 6. The system plays the current greeting.
To keep this greeting: Do nothing..
To switch to the other greeting: Press 6 while the system is playing the current greeting.
Each time you press 6, the system switches between the pre-recorded and the personal greeting. The last
greeting you hear is used as the current greeting.
Deleting Your Personal Greeting
You can delete your personal greeting from the base. You cannot delete the pre-recorded greeting.
Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the
messages unless it has no messages.
Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the
system is in the command waiting mode.
Press 6. The system plays the current greeting. Switch to your personal greeting if necessary. (See the previous
section to switch the greeting.)
While the personal greeting is playing, press 4.
The system announces “Greeting has been deleted,” and switches back to the pre-recorded greeting.
Cheers!

how do you turn off silent mode on Uniden DECT 6.0 cordless phone?
In standby mode pressing and holding # brings up the "Silent Mode" special feature .. unfortunately the only options are to set the time for the device to be in silent mode and no way to turn if off. The solution is supposedly to press the # key again and hold it down, but this does not work either. The only way I can manually return to not be in "Silent Mode" is to reset the base unit!!

2) Use the number keypad ([0] through [9]) to enter a two-digit security code (00-99).

I don't know how to delete message on a uniden dect 6.0 digital answering system
While the message is playing, click the top button, the one with the circle with a line thru it. That will delete the playing message. If you wish to delete all messages, click the top button when all messages have played, then click once again when the prompt says "delete all?"
