My mp3 won't charge

You will probably have to perform a Repair, but start simple:
1) Reset your GoGear - paperclip into reset hole while player is turned on
2) Restart your computer
3) go to www.usasupport.philips.com and follow the frequently asked question for your SA5125 - My player is not recognized by PC
4) Repair the device: (WARNING: this will delete all files off your GoGear)
1) Backup all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new.

Phillips GoGear 2GB

Without opening the Philips device manager, disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, and hold in the volume + button. Continue holding in the volume + button as you reconnect the player to the computer. After reconnecting, continue holding in the volume + button until the "Found New Hardware" Wizard pops-up. Go through the reinstallation process. Once complete, open the Philips Device Manager and click on the update button to make sure the device has the latest firmware upgrade.

The screen of philips mp3 go gear spark is blanked

Hi sheetalsrsh0,

For more information on the Philips GoGear SA5125/37, including FAQ's, manuals, and software, visit the Support Site:

Performing a Repair/Recovery can restore your player back to factory settings and hopefully solve your issue. After performing the Repair, I recommend charging for several hours. Performing these steps also updates the firmware of your product:

Use a pen tip or other sharp object to insert the RESET hole gently on the side of the player and connect it again to your PC.

If it is still not recognized, your player may be at fault. Try the Philips Device Manager software.

NOTE: Contents will be removed by using the repair function.
  1. Install the Philips Device Manager and run it with your player connected to your PC. You can download it under the Software & drivers section.
  2. Click the Repair tab in the Device Manager, press and hold the corresponding recovery key on the player when connecting it to your PC.

  3. Follow the PC screen to recover your player.
You can find the recovery key on your player from the below table.

I'd suggest that you do a soft reset of your player. You will find the reset button next to the 'power on' button on the side of the player. Please hold the Reset button using a pen tip or other sharp object for 10 seconds. Now turn it on.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest that you restore factory settings or repair it Philips Device manager. You can install them from the CD that came with your player or download it from Philips support site.
*Contents may be removed by using this function. So make sure to back up your contents.

Repair using Device manager:
Launch Device Manager and click the Tool menu and select "Repair", then follow the instructions to perform the repair process. Make sure all other applications such as Philips Plug-in, Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer that access the device are closed or else Device Manager will not recognize the device.

You can download the Device manager from www.philips.com/support site.

Hope this works

Memory corruption fixe now

Plug the Philips in a pc using the USB cable and wait for it to be detected - an icon will appear in the notification area (if you move the mouse over it a Safely Remove Hardware message will appear), next to the clock. Now open My Computer, the Philips will be there as an Removable Media - right click on it, click on format, select FAT32 and click Start. When the process ends you can now add some music files in it simply by copy/pasting them in there. To remove it you must click on the icon in the tray, click on the next message that appears and only them take it out, or the corruption will return.
If the format can't be finished then the memory chip inside the player has failed. This cannot be fixed, the player is dead, you will have to get a new one.

Whenever I turn on my Philips GoGear SA5125 - it

Hello,

when an Mp3 goes off like that, is means that the Mp3 is corrupted with virus from an application you installed or a data inside the Mp3 player and and has caused it to have memory loss.

To restore the memory of the Mp3 back to normal, you need to flash the Mp3. Flashing restores back memories that where lost.

After flashing it, it will start working properly again.

Take care.
