Can the panasonic dmr-eh75v copy a vhs tape to DVD?

Yes, that's mostly what I use mine for. You actually copy your VHS to the Hard Drive, then copy from your hard drive to your blank DVD. I'm about 1/3 of my way through reformatting my VHS library (800+ tapes.)

How do I re-set the tim wihout starting from "Start-up"

The automatic time setting from a cable or satellite provider may no longer be available to you. It was previously provided by TVGOS by embedding a time signal in the analog RF signal of participating channels. Unfortunately the TVGOS service was discontinued several years ago when analog broadcasting ended. To set the Date and Time manually using the remote control while stopped: Press [FUNCTIONS] Press Up or Down Arrow to select "Other Functions" then press [ENTER] Press Up or Down Arrow to select "Setup" then press [ENTER] Press Up or Down Arrow to select "Setup" then press Right Arrow Press Up or Down Arrow to select "Clock Settings" then press [ENTER] Press Up or Down Arrow to select "Set Clock Manually" then press [ENTER] Press Right or Left Arrow to select the Date and Time digits, Time Zone, and Daylight Savings Time (DST). Press Up or Down Arrow to change to the digit, Time Zone, and DST settings. Repeat for each Date and Time digit, and Time Zone. When done, Press [ENTER] to start the DVR clock at the chosen date/time - preferably synchronized when the minute changes in the time displayed from your cable or satellite provider for best accuracy. Press [RETURN], then [FUNCTIONS], then [FUNCTIONS] again to leave the setup menus. The time may drift slowly and lose accuracy in a week or two, so it may be necessary to repeat the above procedure periodically for best accuracy. The Daylight Savings Time rules have changed since this DVR was manufactured, so I recommend setting DST to OFF and adjusting the time manually when needed.

How do I stop my Panasonic DMR-EH75V DVD Recorder from automatically turnig itself off after 75 seconds?

It could be overheating.. Is it fairly consistent at 75 seconds? To test put the unit in the fridge for 30 minutes then quickly connect it up and test. If it is longer then 75 seconds then something is getting to hot. I've put hard drives (especially laptop ones) in the freezer if I need to copy off data but it clicks/stops working at room temp.

Some new dvds record right through, others from the packet come to 'NO RECORDING POSSIBLE' at some stage - is this to be expected?

I've occasionally found that some brand new DVD-Rs are rejected by Pana recorders, and have put this down to manufacturing faults on the discs. It's usually not worth taking them back when one disc of a pack of 100 is faulty. All I can recommend is that you use a renowned brand, such as TDK, Maxell, etc to reduce fail rates.

Can my Analog reciver Panasonic DMR-EH 75 v be

I bought a set-top converter box from Dish Network, which will operate with the DMR-EH75V through the remote control cable that was provided with the recorder. It tunes in all the available digital channels and uses the RCA A/V cables to connect to IN1 on the back of the recorder. TVGOS is now provided through channel 2.1 (CBS) in our area and it also provides the time signal that keeps the recorder's clock updated. NOTE: ONLY the Dish Network boxes work with these functions. I've had occasional issues with the box after some period - a few weeks - it needs to be rebooted or reset to manual and then back to automatic (which causes it to reboot anyway.) Model no is DTV PAL PLUS.

Input

• Have a DVD disc ( with content ) played first , These would at

least we will make sure that the DVD Recorder can be played

normally on the TV.

if you can make these work, Please post the Model of your TV.

Going to your recording process:

Can not read disc

I mainly use my DVR to record TV shows on DVD-RAM discs (Panasonic brand or Maxell). I've had no problems with the DVD-RAM discs. However, today when I put a DVD-R disc in the recorder, I got an "Incompatible Disc" error message. I tried a second disc from the same set, and got the same message. I tried out some of the DVD-Rs that I recorded last year and I could read them. Tried a DVD-RAM. That was OK. So, I tried another DVD-R disc. That one is OK. I don't know if the problem is that these DVD-Rs are getting a little old (2 years??) or if the recorder is developing its own problems reading discs.

Not Playing DVDs any more.

Get a laser cleaning disk, and follow through with the instructions about how to clean the laser with it.

If you are able to remove the DVD player drive, you can manualy clean the laser.

If cleaning the laser does not fix the fault, then this means that there is a failure somewhere else in the drive, or the laser itself is defective. Most of the time, these drive's are not worth servicing.
