I guess that covers more than just Region 1, although I haven't tried it myself.

The only reason this would happen is if it is not receiving a signal. Make sure that all of the cables are tightly inserted into the jacks and are connected to the antenna. If this doesn't work, chances are that your antenna is not the right type to receive strong signals in your area. This is common if you live too far (50 (?) miles) from the broadcasting station. The best type of antenna in this case is a combination UHF/VHF rooftop-mount antenna, designed for deep-fringe reception. I have one of these and it works like a charm. Good luck! -Der Strom

It should not matter if it is a DVD or CD, because the CRAIG CVD327 palys both. It must be some other problem. Also, use the button and not the remote.

The manual states that one needs to unplug the unit when not in use.
