I suggest not to plug the Lexmark X3470 printer to your computer yet. Check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by clicking on the Windows logo Start menu > right click on Computer > Properties. it might be a problem with your paper feeder . its a mechanism that take sin the paper , consult a technician and it will not cost you much.

Sometiems you have to close the covers firmly to get the sensor to recognize that it is actually shut

Under the 'download' tab, there are no drivers for Mac OS.

So, either the printer is _NOT_ supported, or Mac OS _includes_ the necessary device-drivers.

Just connect it, and see if the iMac recognizes the hardware, and installs the correct device-drivers.

The only cartridge that fits in your printer is the 18C0788 #1 cartridge if you have put another cartridge into your printer that is not the #1 cartridge I recommend you remove it and replace it with the correct cartridge.

Reinsert your cartridges after properly cleaning them

If you have already tried turning off/on the printer, detaching and re-attaching the usb cable but still it didn't help, you might want to reinstall the printer driver. I recommend you detach the printer from your computer then uninstall the software. To uninstall, click on the Windows logo Start menu > Programs > Lexmark 3400 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Then restart pc. Also, check if your computer is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by clicking on the Windows logo Start menu > right click on Computer > Properties. Yes, the installation cd has the All-in-One Center software. But, if you have already used that to install the software, I suggest you download the updated driver from the Lexmark website. The small "sensor" that should "trip" when you close the lid is not engaging. Blow a little compressed-air into that micro-switch, so that it works correctly.

Unplug the power supply(the black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached). Hold down the Cancel and the Start buttons firmly while plugging back the power supply in the printer. Continue holding down the 2 buttons until Language Selection appears on the screen on the printer. Choose your preferred language. Hit Ok. Hope this helps.

The scan software can only be installed using the installation cd that came with the printer. It's not included in the downloaded driver online. If you don't have it or you lost the installation cd, I suggest you contact Lexmark at 1-800-LEXMARK(1-800-539-6275). They will be able to send you one for free.
