Dell 1720DN is jamming every other page. Tried to

Is there a clicking noise accompanying this problem? We had this problem and solved it by opening the panel on the left hand side and removing the cover on the cogs. The issue was a screw that had become lose and fallen out of the cog which regulates paper feed. it is the only cog with a screw so should be easy to find.

I Open my browser....I signed in to my router as administrator ....
Mine is 192.168.1.1 ....
I went to status in my router ....
Then to local network ....
Then to DHCP Clients Table ....
This is how I found what printer address the was.... Then I typed the printer ip address into my browser

I clicked on Set static IP address.
I changed IP address from 192.168.1.105 To 192.168.1.125
and Submit....Now you can get to the printer menu at 192.168.1.125

Go to run....
Printers & Faxes
Right click on Dell laser printer 1720dn
Properties. Ports ....

Replaced drum but light continues to blink

To reset the photoconductor drum counter, press and hold the Cancel button on the printer until all lights flash in sequence. You can clear the Replace photoconductor message only when the imaging drum has been replaced. For more information on how to replace the drum, see the User's Guide.:

Whenever I go to print

It can be that the paper drawing mechanism of the roller and the geared drive has an issue, possible that the motor has a play with the roller out of alignment , producing a difference of gap in the roller settings. If so the paper will be drawn into in different lengths so as to jam with the uneven pulling.

I replaced the drum on

First check for jammed papers/paper and restart the Printer. Now remove all the cartridges and drum, turn off the machine and leave the door open. Unplug both the usb cable and power cord from the machine. Clean all the chips and the contacts on the printer using a soft cloth/cotton dipped in alcohol or acetone or spirit. After everything is ready, install the drum while you press the "Cancel" button (it must be with the X sign on it), and install the cartridges one by one while you press the Cancel button.

If the problem persists, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

If same thing, press the cancel button for about 10 secs. if still the same, try to check the cartridges, remove them and make sure they are not yet empty, shake them a few times, then connect them back. Make sure no paper jam as well.
