My Philips TV 37PFL5332D/37 has the inverter

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Philips 37pfl5332d won't turn on. A blue light comes on and then turns red and blinks 6 times. Can I fix the tv or is it time to buy a new one?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. Blinks counts to Philips Brand TVs are not direct' like other brand TVs. The details about how to count the fault blinks to Philips TV models are given in detail.

PHILLIPS LCD TV NEEDS SETTING UP EACH TIME I SWITCH IT ON

Sounds like memory capacitor, which is different from other capacitors, is either not soldered to the board, or is bad. It's an electrolytic, but is flat and round.

Do I need cable to view local news

Yes it is called "DTV" digital television, you will need a tv, the tv must have a digital tuner built in most do now a days, if your tv is older you will need a digital converter box also, you can go down to your local store to find a digital antenna- take it home and try it. the issue with this is you can get all channels perfectly in one room with no problem and in the next room with the same exact equipment you wont get any or very little channels, unlike traditional analog television digital television either works or not, no sketchy picture- best advice is to buy a set up from a store that allows returns and try it, if it don't work try a different antenna, also try moving it around, keep in mind you will interfere with the signal so if it works take a seat in you chair it might interrupt the signal--Good Luck.

Digital channels have stopped working, only blue screen!

Try resetting the TV:

  1. Switch on TV and switch to any analogue channel.
  2. On the TV: Press and hold the MENU button.
  3. Menu screen will appear on the display.
  4. Do not release the MENU until the menu screen disappears.
  5. TV will go blank for about 60 seconds and then display initial set up screen.
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to re-tune the TV.
If this does not work then the problem is likely to be a loose ribbon cable or main small signals board inside the TV.

LCD panels screens can be repaired, your best bet would be to contact a local electronics repair shop. However replacing an LCD panel gets expensive and it may be more cost effective to buy a new TV unfortunately.

Phillips model 37PFL5322D/37

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

My 37PFL5322D 37" LCD has no picture and no

If the set is responding to the remote or set-top buttons, this means only that the always-on low voltage supply for the remote section is working and that the main power supply has probably died. You might try pulling the AC plug overnight to see if there is simply a 'lockup' of an IC causing the non-response. Our modern sets are very complex and it isn't uncommon for them to have a glitch while operating.

My TV was working and

Hello

There is something confusing the system control of your TV and it should me resetted. To reset it, just switch OFF your TV with its front panel power control switch, and after that, unplug the TV from the wall socket. Wait for about 5 minutes or so, and the plug it and switch It ON. If this does not work for the first time, give some more time to reset, say about an hour or so, and try. OK.

When I use the remote to turn tv on, the screen

Hello

Your Philips TV is locked. Tu unlock it, do the folloing.

Philips sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The override code for Philip sets is 0711, although it may say "Incorrect code" the first time to trick you. If "Incorrect code" is displayed, simply enter 0711 again. To use it hit the MENU key to get to the menus. Go up or down until you reach AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK, depending on the model, and push the "right arrow" key on the remote. Enter the override code, and enter it a second time if it says it is incorrect.

Once in the AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK menu, go to BLOCK, and push the "right arrow" key. Go to BLOCKING OPTIONS and press the "right arrow" key. Go to MASTER DISABLE and press the "right arrow" key so that it says "MASTER DISABLE ON". The v-chip is now reset.
OK

37plf5332d/37 worked last night but won't turn on

Hi.

If there is no power at all, then it is usually either PSU or power cord.

The power cord is tested reading Ohms between prongs in power plug and contacts to PSU. If circuit is open, then power cord must be replaced.

The PSU is more complex to text. If there is no power at all, first test is done on the AC soldering joints, and on the diode located immediately after AC input.

Here a service manual for this model: Philips Chassis EJ3.0U LA Service Manual.

Here parts: 37PFL5332D'

No shorted out MOSFET, inverter transformers, surface mounted DC filter caps (this one is hard to located because they a lot of them in parallel). You may be better off getting new board.
