Dishwasher will not drain, what

Check the hose from the dishwasher to the disposal or drain. It may be blocked. It is a white hose that if it is blocked you can see the blockage. It will appear as a dark grey. You can move the hose back and forth to manipulate the blockage. Then run the washer one full cycle. When I did that to my washer the blockage was removed and it drained just fine.

Dishwasher is not draining properly.

Check that there is nothing clogging the inlet to the pump below the strainer at the bottom of the machine and slowing down water getting to the pump. This will mean stripping down much of the bottom of the machine, but is unavoidable. Also check that the drain line is not blocked. If there are no problems there, the change over valve may be leaking and returning some of the water to the machine instead of draining it out.

Dishwasher not cleaning dishes and leaves glasses

Hi,
There are several causes in dishwashers that make dishes come out with film on them or something of the sort. Here they are.
1 Water temperature should be 140 degrees. Your dishwasher should have a "sani" cycle that heats up the water into that range.
2 Most dishwashers were never engineered for liquid soap. So if you are using it, go to powder soap.
3 A rinse agent is definitely a big plus
4 In some parts of America, such as Florida, lime deposits build up in the machine and accumulate onto the dishes and glasses. It's a white film. It also accumulates in the parts of the machine and logs them. If this is the case. Run white vinigar in the machine.
Empty the machine.
Turn it on.
While the machine is filling with water, (not at the very very beginning as it will drain out existing water when it is started) put a quart of vinegar in and run it. If it has lime deposits it will greatly reduce them.

5 The spray arms may be jammed with pieces of food or other debris. make sure the holes in the arms are not obstructed.

That should do it.
Best, Mark

I need to know how

I don't think you may need to reset the dishwasher. All that might be happening is the float switch located in the base may be malfunctioning. It could be stuck. Try pushing it down and see if it lifts up by itself. It should only lift when water is filling the dishwasher.

See the diagram for location and switches under the float. Items 302 - 308 are invovled. Please rate the solution if ok otherwise post a comment.

The green start/reset light is flashing. Nothing will work.

Ok so your dishwasher won't do anything... it justs sits there and "Hums" you can't make it respond to any controls, and the ONLY way to Stop it. is to unplug the unit, replugging back in it simply "Hums" again and will do nothing.
Now this happens because, the STOP Button, is pressed and the "Door Opened", during the Wash Cycle. This should NOT be done. You shouldNEVER TURN IT OFF MID-CYCLE. you should instead, Simply, pull on the handle, to Open the door, the system will take care of everything, after, you close it,and pick up where it left off. The turning OFF, makes the machine "Think" that a New Cycle, is going to be done, before the old one is finished, and resets itself to do it all again. But it still has water, that's not meant to be there so it must dump it out.
Now, the FIX. Take the Dishwasher, out, and tip over on it's side, tip to about a 45' angle. Water will come out from underneath, this is from a small "Overflow" reservoir. this reservoir has an "Anti-Flood" switch. The removing of this water will "Reset" this Switch, and allow the dishwasher to work again.
So what happens, is this, when the STOP button is pressed Mid-Cycle, the machine must "Dump" whatever water is still in the machine, into the "Overflow Reservoir". This water then causes the Anti-flood switch to jam, and this stops the machine, until it is reset,by the above method.Below is your service and repair manual. http://appliancejunk.com/ge/dishwasher/31-9137.pdfDIY troubleshooting self help web site, below. http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/dishwasher/dishwasher.php

Will not drain

If your dishwasher was installed by a vendor, call them and have them repair the problem. If it's new as you say, you should have a warranty.

If it was installed by others, then make sure all hoses and drain fittings are correctly installed and not kinked. Also, I have seen situations where a dishwasher was installed after the fact and the plug on the sink drain spur that connects to the dishwasher drain was not removed, blocking the drain port.

Leaving white residue on dishes

A white residue could be some type of water hardness or residual detergent. Wash dishes by hand and dry, does white residue remain? If yes, there is too much detergent in machine. If no, water problem. Consult with a local water expert
