Frigidaire FMT116E1B Microwave Oven Questions & Answers
Looking for a recall on Frigidaire microwave
I hope there were no injuries!
I'm currently working as an electronics expert witness and consultant
for a law firm that specializes in nationwide consumer protection cases.
The first thing I would suggest is that if you still have the
microwave, please be sure to preserve it in the state it is in, and
protect it from any damage. It is very important evidence.
Also, if the fire didn't damage the model number tag inside the cooking
cavity, please contact me with the model number, "FCC ID" number, and
serial number.
If the tag was damaged and can't be read, hopefully you have written
down at least the model number in your owner's manual or on your sales
receipt?
As you and I discuss your situation, rest assured that I understand the need for privacy and confidentiality to protect your
interests in this matter.
I would also suggest that you not discuss this situation with anyone
except on a "need to know" basis. That's why I had you contact me
directly instead of replying to you in a public forum on FixYa.
My expenses are already paid, and there will be no charge for my helping you.
We're
happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your
thoughtful rating of our answer.

How do you change the fuse?
I guess you checked for power at the outlet. First unplug unit. Second hang plug where you can see that you've unplugged unit, and that you can see that it's still unplugged when you come back from whatever interruptions that will occur.
Take off the long vent above the door. That will expose the screw holding the control panel on. Remove that screw and lift the control panel straight up to expose the innards. The fuse will be a light gray or white ceramic piece with silver on the ends. Once it's out check the silver end for the amperage rating, ie 20A or 18A.
Replace with a ceramic fuse with the EXACT SAME VALUE. Still see the plug? Reverse the order to reassemble. Test run. If the fuse blows again the unit will have to be opened up for component/connection checks. The fuse will probably cost $3.00-$5.00, just so you're not suprised.
Hope this helped, and good luck.

Well, my fiancee walked out
Appliance Parts Pros has parts for your model, but they aren't cheap.
The cover keeps food splashes and vapors out of the waveguide. Garbage in the waveguide will degrade performance and could cause magnetron failure or another fire.
If the oven has already quit working (no power), the fire opened up the oven cavity thermal cutout (that's what the part is for). A generic replacement is about $5.
Maybe you've already seen
this two-year old post on the same subject.
My frigidaire microwave does not go on
To allow us to help you effectively (at no charge), please post a NEW problem to FixYa, and please
include your brand name and the full model number from the tag in or on
the unit, and very detailed symptoms, answering these questions:
- Is it dead? (meaning there is no display, no light when you open the door, and no beeps when you press a key)
- Does it run but no heat? (meaning the inside light, cooling fan, and turntable all work)
- Does it make any unusual noise?
- Is it louder or quieter than normal?

My Frigidaire Microwave caught on fire
The owner's manual warns of the dangers of overcooking potatoes and similar foods and not to ever leave the oven unattended while it's running.
If
for some reason you don't have your owner's manual, you can
download Frigidaire owner's manuals and installation
instructions here.
Are you looking for help to get your microwave working again?
Chances are it's just an opened flame sensor (cavity thermostat / thermal cutout / T.C.O.). Its job is to cut power if there's a fire.
You can find
helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full
model number from the tag on the oven here.Accessing some components for testing and possible replacement (like the oven cavity thermostat) will require you to remove the oven from the wall.If
so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have
two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward. We're
happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your
thoughtful rating of our answer.
American Home shield said that the waveguide is burnt
The reality is that microwave ovens have gone way down in price while repairs have gone way up. Go to a Walmart or a K mart and you will find many microwaves in the 50-90 dollar range. Even if you could have your current microwave repaired it is still ten years old, well beyond it's life expectancy.
My Frigidaire gallery convection microwave keeps blowing its fuses
fuses inside oven, sure. (i had to guess)
all UWAVE do that when the 3 or 4 door switches CONTRADICT.
this is so it does no cook a persons eyeballs.(no really )
what we do is replace them all as a set,
4x5=$20 set.
I am on my 3rd set here, ( 18 year span)
so i even bought a new whole spare fuse panel (behind the controller) with new switch set pre loaded.all -in- one fix.
then when it fails i can replace it all in 30min flat.
mine is built in fancy uwave and do not want top put in any alien Uwave here and now wood cabinets must be modified.
see?
good luck,
Frigidaire pleb27m9ecd built in oven/microwave. The oven works fine. The plug on the oven that microwave plugs into is not working.
It sounds like you may have an issue with the plug that connects the microwave portion of your Frigidaire PLEB27M9ECD built-in oven/microwave to the electrical supply.
Here are a few things you can try:
- Check the power supply: Make sure that the oven/microwave is properly plugged into a working outlet and that the circuit breaker is not tripped.
- Inspect the plug: Look for any visible damage on the plug and make sure that the connections are secure.
- Check the wiring: Make sure that the wiring inside the oven/microwave is not damaged or loose.
- Test the outlet: Using a multimeter, test the outlet to see if it's providing power.
- Test the microwave: If you have access to a known good microwave, you can test the plug by plugging it into the known good microwave and see if it works.
If none of these solutions work, it's likely that there is an issue with the electronic control board or the plug itself, which will require professional repair.
It's best to contact the manufacturer or a professional technician for repair. They will be able to diagnose the issue more accurately and repair it.
