Jenn-Air JGR8850 Gas Kitchen Range - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Oven getting up to temperature very slowly,
The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. This video will walk you thru the correct procedure for testing an oven igniter. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

My oven takes 30 min.
Your insulation seems to be faulty and letting the heat escape.

When i try to bake on my jenn air we have no flame
If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style - amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If less than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor.
Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528, WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265;
rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108.
Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires.
Good luck!

Have a Jenn-Air JGR8850 oven which takes very long to heat up.
Hi Mark,
The symptoms you are experiencing are consistent with the hot surface ignitor getting weak.
This ignitor called a glow bar will increase it's resistance with age. With this higher resistance the current that goes to the gas valve for the oven is lowered, causing to open slower (hence the gas odor) and eventually not at all.
This can be verified with an amp probe on the ignition system. It should draw 3.2 amps for the gas valve to open. If an amp meter is not available you can actually swap the broil and bake ignitors as they are identical.
Electronic panel malfunction
A F1 code on Jenn Air refers to a failure in the ERC (electronic range control). There is not a fix for it other than replace the control.
It looks like the part is still around if your model starts with JGR8850 that is. The price of the part is around $300.00 so.... not sure if it would be worth putting that into this, your call
Cleaning black cooktop surface - what products to use.
It is recommended that you use a straight edge razor blade and push in one direction to remove anything stuck to the surface of a glass cook top. Stubborn, cooked on, substances can be cleaned by scrubbing with a light abrasive cook top cleaner and/or a green kitchen scrub pad. The green srub pads are considered non-abrasive and safe for cook tops. You can also use liquid dish detergent (such as Dawn) to break through grease and grime. DO NOT use steel wool, SOS pads, or any scouring powders. These products can permanently scratch or dull the finish on your cook top. If you have any questions please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.
