We had a power outage

See where the range is plugged in. Check to see if there is power there. If so, the igniter must be replaced. This is not a difficult repair. I would guess there is a power problem, blown circuit breaker, open GFCI outlet or the plug is out.

Jenn-Air Gas Cooktop igniters keep clicking and sparking

As far as i understand this is normal. The sparker is electronic and is hooked to all posts, when called upon all posts will spark. My brand spankin new stove does this and so does my neighbors that i just converted over to LP. No worries my friend your stove is in perfect working order!

One burner does not click or light.

There is a switch under each knob, the one that does not click will have the bad switch or the wire to the switch is bad.

The part number for the switch you need is 74005032. That is if the model number you show here is the right model of your cooktop (CCG2423). You will need to remove the top and take the glass off to repair.

Have Jenn-Air 36

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. There are a few things to check for. Make sure the electrode (the small metal piece that the spark comes off from) is clean and the holes in the burner are clean, use a pin or paper clip to clean out the burner holes and not a tooth pick as these can break off and make things worse. Example of a burner. The next thing to check for are the ignition switches under the surface control knobs, the switches can twist and break and keep the spark module on and the spark keeps "clicking" even when the burner is light. If every thing looks good, you may have a bad spark module, replace it.
The switches or the range control knobs may have got wet and are completing the circuit to the spark module thus causing it to continuously click or fire off sparks continuously. Use your hair/blow dryer and blow some hot air around the spark module area.

This is a typical spark module wire diagram--

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Flames too high Jenn-air CCG2423

Definitely cut your loses and get a cooktop with a warranty. That unit sat on the back shelf for a reason.......it didn't work properly.

Also, but a cook top that is compatible with the safety knobs they sell as child guards at places like lowes and home depot.

here is a link to show you how the child proof knobs work

3 of 4 knobs do not compress to turn on gas

You must replace those controls. Cleaning or loosening them up would be temporary at best and the next time they stick it could be in the open position. Safety first...Eric

How do I clean my Ceramic Cooktop?

Hi

From the JennAir website:

Ceramic glass (on some models)
IMPORTANT: Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and the oven and cooktop are cool. Always follow label instructions on cleaning products. Soap, water and a soft cloth or sponge are suggested first unless otherwise noted.
Cleaning method:
Always wipe with a clean, wet cloth or sponge, and then thoroughly dry the ceramic glass to avoid streaking and staining.

Cooktop cleaning and protectant aids
Cooktop Cleaner Part No. 31464 is recommended for regular use to condition the cooktop to help avoid scratches, pitting and abrasions.
Cooktop Scraper Part No. WA906B is also recommended for stubborn soils.
NOTE: The Cooktop Scraper uses razor blades. Store razor blades out of the reach of children.
These items and other accessories can be purchased by calling the Jenn-Air Customer eXperience Center at: 1-800-536-6247.

Light to moderate soil
Paper towels or clean, damp sponge.
Sugary spills (jellies, candy, syrup)
Use the Cooktop Scraper.
  • Clean while the cooktop is still warm.
  • You may want to wear oven mitts while cleaning the cooktop.
Use the Cooktop Polishing Creme and a clean, damp paper towel.
  • Clean as soon as cooktop has cooled.
  • Rub creme into surface with a damp paper towel or soft cloth.
  • Continue rubbing until white film disappears.
Heavy soil, dark streaks, specks, and discoloration
Use the Cooktop Polishing Creme or a nonabrasive cleanser.
  • Rub product into soil with a damp paper towel or soft cloth.
  • Continue rubbing until white film disappears.
Burned-on soil
Use the Cooktop Cleaner and Cooktop Scraper.
  • Rub creme into soil with damp paper towel.
  • Hold scraper as flat as possible on surface and scrape.
  • Repeat for stubborn spots.
  • Polish entire cooktop with creme and paper towel.
Metal marks from aluminum and copper
Use the Cooktop Cleaner.
  • Clean as soon as cooktop has cooled.
  • Rub creme into surface with a damp paper towel or soft cloth.
  • Continue rubbing until white film disappears.
NOTE: The marks will not totally disappear, but after many cleanings they will become less noticeable.
Tiny scratches and abrasions
Use the Cooktop Cleaner.
  • Rub creme into surface with a damp paper towel or soft cloth.
  • Continue rubbing until white film disappears.
  • Scratches and abrasions do not affect cooking performance, and after many cleanings they will become less noticeable.
IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to the cooktop, do not use steel wool, abrasive powder cleansers, chlorine bleach, rust remover or ammonia.

To Self-Clean:
  1. Close the oven door.
  2. Press Clean. “Clean,” “Set,” and “Upper” or “Lower” will flash in the display.
  3. Press Autoset. MEd (Medium soil, 3 hours) appears in the display.

    NOTE:
If the door is not closed, oven will beep and “door” will appear in the display until the door is closed and the Clean pad is pressed again. If the door is not closed within 30 seconds, the self-cleaning operation will be canceled and the display will return to the time of day.

To choose a clean setting other than Medium, press Autoset to scroll through the self-cleaning settings.
    HVy (heavy soil, 4 hours)
    MEd (medium soil, 3 hours)
    LITE (light soil, 2 hours)
Choosing the soil level of the oven automatically programs the self-cleaning time.
  4. After 4 seconds, the oven will start cleaning. “Clean” will appear in the display. “Lock” will flash in the display. Once both the oven doors lock, “Lock” will remain lit. The cleaning time will count down in the display.
When the Self-Clean cycle ends:
“Lock” will turn off approximately 1 hour after the end of the clean cycle. The door can then be opened.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
