Exhaust fan comes on when burner turned on

The left side is set for your grill. There is apparently a switch under the left side top / front of the cooktop. The aeration tray has a prong on one end that fits into a hole in the front end of the burner basin and activates the switch which stops the fan from coming on when using the burners and allows the fan to run when using the grill. Try switching sides with the aeration trays as one might make better contact than the other.

How to replace a spark switch in Jenn-air gas cooktop (CVG 4280)?

Do you hear the igniter running when you turn it to start? If so, it's something in the wiring, not the switch. It looks like you just unhook the back of the panel and lift it forward. The switch is attached to the bottom of the panel. You can find an exploded view (and buy the part cheaper) at

www.appliancepartspros.com

Good luck, and let me know if you need more help.

Igniter keeps firing

The problem resolved on its own. I'm guessing some moisture from my cleaning was the culprit...when the moisture dried the igniter stopped sparking.

Ventilation system on Jenn Air CVG4280

My Jenn-Air had the same problem. When you install the drip pan for the burner module, there is a "finger" on the pan that is inserted into a hole in the front of the stove. If you look into that hole, you will see a lever switch. The finger on the drip pan on the burner module is supposed to push that lever switch down and turn the fan off, but over time the lever gets pushed down further and ultimately it does not get activated when the drip pan is installed.

You can either replace the lever switch, or you can try to pull it back into place and tighten the two small screws that hold it in place. Actually, I chose a third option and attached a small, flat spring to the finger on the drip pan.

Exhaust fan not starting

Bearings are worn. You should be able to replace with a standard utility fan. You can find them at your local big box hardware store or order online here.

Jenn-Air Expressions Downdraft Gas Stovetop Model CVGX2423B - Unable to Get Nut Off Burner Base to Replace Igniters

It is possible to use WD-40 to help loosen the nuts, but it may not be enough on its own to remove them. Here are some steps you can try to remove the nuts:
  1. Turn off the gas supply to the stovetop and unplug the unit from the electrical outlet.
  2. Use a wrench that fits the nut snugly and try turning it counter-clockwise to loosen the nut.
  3. If the nut is stuck, try spraying a generous amount of WD-40 onto the threads of the nut and let it sit for a few minutes.
  4. After the WD-40 has had a chance to penetrate the threads, try turning the nut again with the wrench.
  5. If the nut still won't budge, try gently tapping the wrench handle with a hammer to help loosen the nut.
  6. If all else fails, you may need to call a professional technician to remove the nuts safely.
It's important to note that improper removal of the nuts could cause damage to the stovetop or cause a gas leak, which could be dangerous. If you are unsure about how to proceed, it's best to call a qualified technician to help you.
