"I am getting white floaters in my ice water. I have replaced the
filter, let a lot of water flow through but the problem remains. What
are they? Where do they come from? Are they dangerous? How do I get rid
of them?"
Another user posted a probable cause -- hard water mineral buildup -- but noone has offered a solution
It is caused from calcium carbonate and magnesium among other minerals and is in hard water. When you pour the water out of the tap, no floaties, but when you freeze water, the freezing process forces the minerals into the center of the ice where it forms floaties. It is harmless, just unsightly. You can core the center of ice cubes to remove most floaties but that is impractical, so the other alternative is to get a water softener. Water softeners remove most if not all floaties.

The door frame around freezer door is very hot -almost too hot to touch- for a long time in side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. The freezer stays about 32F and the frig at 45F. We have unplugged and replugged in the frig and cleared and reset the controls in order to reset the defrost cycle. I checked the defroster in the back of the freezer compartment and it was not on yet the freezer door frame was very hot. I then unplugged the bi-metal strip that controls the defroster and the same thing happened. it is a Kenmore Elite Coldspot 106.54606300 [Whirlpool[. It seems like there is heater/warmer around the door to stop moisture that is running uncontrolled. Is it electric - like a heat tape? What controls it? How do I check this? If it is a heat tape, can it be replaced? How do we access it? The metal case seems to be one large piece. I can't see how to open up between the inner plastic shell and the outer metal covering.
The problem you describe is caused by the hot gas pipe that runs around the cabinet, this is normal for it too get warm, the only reason it would be very hot is that for some reason the gases are not being cooled, probable cause is that the condenser is blocked with dust or fluff, depending on axact version some are located behind the plastic trim that runs below the doors and others are in the back behind the lower rear panel. How do I replace the water dispenser tube for a Kenmore Coldspot model # 106.53769201. The end of the line disintegrated at the spot where you put your glass under the dispenser.
Hello, Ice makers
and water dispensers are convenient to have on your refrigerator, but
can also cause a lot of aggravation if they are not functioning
properly. If your water valves are not defective and you are still
experiencing water or ice delays, you may have a clog in your
refrigerator hose line.
Instructions and material needed to fix it up.
Good Luck and thanks for using fixya.

Ice maker not making ice and red light inside the freezer is blinking. What does this mean?
Your ice maker may be turned off. The blinking light is the sensor. The switch is right beside it. Is it in the on position?

How to check defrost timer on Kenmore side by side 596-52673200?
You don't have a defrost timer, you have an adaptive defrost control which determines when to defrost based on how often door is opened etc. If you have a defrost problem check
, defrost heater, defrost thermostat
How to check
everything

If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Kenmore refrigerator with ice dispenser in door
I removed the ice bin because ice was clogged in the dispenser. When I removed it, the latch and spring came apart. I can't figure out how to put it back in the ice bin
I had the same problem. When you put the spring back on the little arm towards the button, use a mini screwdriver or something to pull the spring back and pop the latch part back in the indented spots. Then, it will seem stuck but you just put some pressure on the curved side of the latch - opposite from the button and it will "pop" back into place.

I noticed that my refrigerator side by side is leaking water from under the door. The freezer is on the bottom and the side by side doors are on top. The leak is under the left side door where the water dispenser is located and it's only noticeable when I open the door.
your drain in the bottom of freezer is clogged or frozen, use a hanger or if it is frozen use a hair dryer,thanks-mike

My Kenmore side-by-side refridgerator is making a loud humming noise. My Kenmore side by side refrigerator/freezer has been making a buzzing noise every few minutes. Now I realize that the freezer is no longer freezing. Any suggestions?
You need to clean your coils under the 'fridge,' and wait 24 hours, if it is not not getting cold, perhaps replace the freon. If that does not work, you need to call a repairman.

water leaks from the water tube inside the freezer and then freezes up. Now water leaks from the water tube from the back outside of the freezer. So water is leaking inside freezer, then freezing up on the freezer wall--and I suppose this is causing it to leak on the outside of the freezer.
Your refrigerator needs a new water valve and possibly some new water tubing. You can find the correct part by going to sears.com and entering the refrigerator's model number in the parts search field. When you have the valve, shut off the water to the refrigerator. If you're not sure how to do that, just shut off water to the entire house. Be sure to run the kitchen sink after you shut the water off to relieve any presure and double check that the water is completely shut off.
Be sure to unplug the refrigerator before you start this project...water and electricity aren't friends! Using a 1/4" nut driver or socket, remove the cardboard or metal cover off the back of the refrigerator. Follow the water line to the water valve, unscrew the nut going to the valve, and remove the water line. There are 2 screws holding the water valve to the refrigerator cabinet; remove the screws and gently pull the valve out. Unplug the electrical connectors and remove the water lines. Take the new valve, connect the water lines and electrical plugs, screw the valve back into place, attach the water line and turn the water back to to test for leaks.
Since the valve has been leaking inside your freezer it would be a great idea to clean out your freezer and let the water tube and lines thaw. Find a place for your frozen food, unplug the unit and let it sit overnight with the doors open. Don't forget to remove the ice bin, as these make quite the mess when the ice melts. Once it's thawed, plug it back in, make sure the water is on and not leaking and enjoy!
