For future reference, I always recommend that you turn on the microwave's hood vent exhaust fan whenever you're cooking on the stovetop or oven.

Depending on the brand and model, there will be either a thermal cutout or thermostat on or near the magnetron. There is also one on top of the oven chassis ceiling, but under the outer cover.

Either device may have opened.

In many brands there is a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Accessing some components (especially the oven cavity thermostat / thermal cutout) for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

The first thing I would try in this case is to unplug it, wait for about 5 minutes or so, then plug it back in to see if it clears up the problem.

mine did the same thing. i bet you have kids. kids are really hard on touch pads. the touch pad itself isnt too horribly expensive. id try a new one of those. teach the kids "gentle touch". cheaper in the long run.

I would click on Jenn Air or call 1-800-JENN-AIR (536-6247) and ask for a replacement recommendation and a copy of old installation instructions for planning with designer or installer. Do you have the installation instructions that came with the oven? An electric oven requires a 220V circuit and the cable coming out of the wall you described is a 110 V circuit.

It's really not safe to measure the voltage while it's running unless you truly have training and experience. The risk is not "radiation," but instead the high voltage (4000VAC) and its frequency, which can be instantly lethal. Microwave ovens do not contain or produce ionizing radiation as found in atomic or nuclear energy. That is just a common myth. Something is shorted out. Leave the breaker off until you find it. You need an ohmmeter to find it, but look for the black marks for a hint.

Hey David... sorry to say There's a $14 fuse between cooking & your magnetron (could be other things (but in my opinion... magnetrons sound right for your symptoms) I checked for your magnetron and got MFR Number 461967847321 - not AVAILABLE. (there is one $74 on eBay (very bottom, below)). I LOOKED at your oven and it is a really nice one... So I think I'd be hitting all the on-line parts houses to see if you can locate one...
