The shutter in this camera does not have gears. Gears are used for film transport and cocking the shutter. Nikon stopped selling parts last year so unless you can find them on eBay you are pretty much out of luck. you can get to the gears by removing the bottom cover.

It's a near worthless model as are all of the similar Kodak designed and manufactured (for Nikon) consumer grade models, sorry. They're fine cameras, but they were not built to last and all are so far long past their 5 year design lifespan that they are a liability to a trader. They're not even attractive to most Nikon collectors and they're well aware that they can be picked up for nothing. Even if perfect it's true value to the trade is a maximum of £5, provided it has a working set of batteries which cost more than the camera is worth. No batteries and the camera is worthless even if perfect. You can definitely negotiate a bigger discount than than without a trade-in.

Lenses are a different matter; if they're the bundled kit lenses and in perfect condition then again they're only worth about £5 each at trade-in value, but if they are higher quality metal lens mount models then valuations are potentially much higher, but it 's all on a case by case basis.

You will get a far better price by selling your camera privately.

It is more likely that the tab has separated from the plate it slides on. The spring is attached to the plate with the tab sticking out from it. I have repaired these in the past by boring a small hole in the backside of the tab and use a screw to re-attach it.

Fixing this requires a complete new shutter assembly and it's not a DIY job. Spares availability is also now very poor.

You can easily get a complete similar replacement SLR for a lot less than the cost of repair, so your best bet is to harvest every single removable accessory from the body and recycle it. A replacement camera should be dirt cheap or free as this and similar models are effectively worthless these days unless they're known to be collectable models (the F60 definitely isn't collectable). I get all of mine from my local FreeCycle and Freegle groups, some are boxed and virtually unused with all accessories, like the F75 kit and F-801 which I recently obtained.

Having gone over a month without a response, I assume this is no longer an issue.

This means one of two things:-

1. You have not set the lens to it's smallest aperture before fitting it to the camera body; or...

2. The EE servo coupling post on the outer edge of the lens mounting flange on the body has broken off. This is a switch which senses when the lens is set to it's minimum aperture. Looking at the camera body, with the lens removed, it's at about the eight o' clock position on the outer edge of the body lens mounting flange.

1. is easily fixed:just fit the lens correctly. 2. Really needs a professional repair, but as you can get a used F60 (N60 in USA) for free these days (FreeCycle/Freegle) it's not worth doing: just fasten it permanently in the "activated" position. Do a bit of googling and you'll see what I mean.

What lens?

If it's a CPU lens, remove the lens, clean the contacts, reattach the lens, and jiggle the lens to seat the contacts.

If it's not a CPU lens, you'll have to use it in the Manual (M) mode.

Took the liberty o testing the download- a pop up comes askin you to rate the camera- just pop all the stars to where ever that unlocks the download button- definately works.

Turn the aperture ring on your lens to F/22 or whatever is the highest number on the ring and try it.. If your lens doesn't have a ring, there is a broken switch on the camera.

Draw the film all the way to the receiving spool. There's an 'eye' inside the film compartment to check that the film is loaded. When the film is not correctly loaded the camera thinks it's empty and rewinds the film.

E blinking is very popular symptom. Make sure your lens is set at F22. Your lens is not set to the smallest aperture (highest number). Turn the camera off, rotate the aperture ring so the largest number is lined up with the mark on the top, push the aperture lock tab, and turn the camera back on. The aperture ring is the one closest to the camrea body with numbers like 4, 5.6, 8, 11 etc on it. The largest number will be 16, 22, or 32 for most lenses. If it still doesn't work, turn off, remove & replace the lens, and recheck the aperture ring setting.

This usually happens if the lens you mounted on it has an aperture ring and the aperture is not set to its smallest opening (the largest number)
