I have a dell dimension 3000 that kept powering on

Hello,

What you can do is to reseat all cables that are connected to the CPU. Also, try reseating all components connected to the motherboard. that includes the RAM, Video Card, etc. Here's the proper way to reseat them.

First, remove everything from the motherboard then install them one by one. Once you installed something, try to boot it up. until you have isolated the cause of the problem. The most common cause of this kind of issue is the memory(RAM).

That's what you need to do before you throw your desktop away.

Hope this helps!

I'm getting a repeat beeping sound whenever I

Definitely not a hard drive problem. It would boot, but not go to windows. This is one of two things. Power supply failure (most likely), or one of the RAM sticks went bad. I would try testing the RAM by taking one out, and trying to turn it on. Do this with both, or all four (depending on how many you have). If it still doesn't work, I would think that the Power Supply is the issue.

Dell has a set of codes that would tell you what the exact error would be based on the blinks of the amber light. If you find the pattern, you can look that up. In my professional experience it's normally the power supply.

My Dell Dimension tower was recently knocked of

Most Dell systems have beep codes that are in groups of three, so I don't know for certain what yours is saying. But after a fall it's a good bet something has come loose inside. I would suspect memory first. Take the cover off and make sure the RAM modules are seated firmly and latched into their sockets. This page at Dell shows you where the RAM sockets are and details how to install memory. Also be sure the processor is firmly seated in its socket. Unless the computer really got knocked about, the processor is likely to be okay; it's pretty well secured and RAM is more often what comes loose.

Without the RAM properly operating, nothing else in the computer will happen properly when you start it. Once you've reseated the memory in yours it will probably start up without further troubles.

(And as a fellow cat owner I feel your pain. Unfortunately it was an external drive that my cat knocked off the desk, and it didn't survive the fall. Lots of music and videos gone now...sigh.)

Control f11 does not work

That computer might not have the Dell Recovery partition installed on it. If not, those keys mean nothing and the system will see it as an error. If you can get into windows, go to the Disk Manager (Right click my computer, manage, disk management). If the recovery partition is installed, you'll see it there. It will be formatted with the FAT32 file system. If you don't see it, its not there. Even if it is installed, it might be broken. You might have to boot to the CD and restore from there instead. When you do, it should install the recovery partition for the next time you need it. The recovery CD will probably not be automated so you'll have to sit there and answer some questions.you can get the help of a techinian online you can get in touch with them through the website www.thebestpcdoctor.comToll Free: 877 407 9229

Failure to recognize CD ROM or USB ports

  1. Run Registry Editor (regedit).
  2. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor
  3. In the right pane, double click on the Start value name.
  4. Change the value data to 4 to disable the removable USB mass storage device drive access
  5. 5.
  6. To revert and re-enable the drive access for removable USB mass storage device driver, change back the value data for Start to its original default of 3.
The change will take effect immediately to block any USB mass storage device such as USB flash drive, USB key and portable harddisk from been used in the system, while still allowing hardware components to work properly via USB connection. The hack works in most Windows operating system such as Windows Vista, XP, Windows Server 2008, 2003 and 2000. For user who dare not to modify the registry manually, simply download the following registration entries file to enable or disable the USB drive. Extract the downloaded content in .ZIP format, and then double click on the .REG file to open and apply or merge the registry values to system.you can get technical help from a technician onlineyou can get in touch with them through the website www.thebestpcdoctor.comToll Free: 877 407 9229

Try to run the built- in diagnostics on your dell system.Once you turn on the system, press F12 continuously. If you were not able to access it anymore, you have to remove the memory module one by one and the hard drive. Go to dell.com/support for the process of tearing down your system. If it did not change still, then it is already a problem with *********** Board.

You will put your disc into the disc player and if it does not start then you will double left click on My Computer, when it opens you will look at "Devices with Removable Storage" and locate your CD player and double left click on it to start the player...
Once the player is playing it will open a window to show your pictures...

Dell dimension will not recognize a new hard drive

Hi tomcartp...

Go to Device Manager
To get to Device Manager you will:
Right click on My Computer>Properties>click the Hardware Tab>Device Manager.
After you are in Device Manager look for your MP3 player or Unit.
Here you should see no "Yellow" exclamation points.
If you do they they are telling you that you have a device conflict.
If you currnetly have your unit plugged in, you may notice the "unknown device" which would be your Player or Unit.
If you unit has an exclamation point by it, then you will need to click on it and delete it.
After you remove all devices with conflicts then click on refresh and search again for your MP3 player/Device.
The computer should install your device this time and solve your problem with connection of the MP3 player/Device.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up.

Hello,
First, if the computer has the restore partition, you should see a blue bar at the top of the screen immediately following completion of POST. After two seconds you should see a message about loading the descriptor for PBR2. If you don't see these things after you start or restart the computer, the restore function is not operational. If you do see them you need to restart the computer, press CTRL and F11 toward the end of POST, and release both keys simultaneously before you see the message about the descriptor for PBR2. If you are successful you will get a screen that has an option to restore the computer to factory configuration.
If you don't see the blue bar, try using Disk Management to see how many partitions you can find. If the partition exists, you should find three. First, a utility partition formatted in FAT-16 about 32 MB in size. Second should be the NTFS partition used for the C drive; this one will be the largest partition on the drive. Third should be a FAT-32 partition of two to three Gigabytes in size. This last is the restore partition. If you wish you can try to fix it, but you will need to study Dan Goodell's page found here: Inside the Dell PC Restore Partition.
If you don't have the restore partition and can't fix it, the only thing you can do is find the CDs that should have been shipped with the computer and restore the system manually. If you don't have the Dell Windows Reinstallation CD, you can ask for one here: Dell Replacement Disks. If you don't live in the U.S. you will need to contact Dell Tech Support for your region and request the CDs.
Hope this helps!
