I must have a strong malware it won't let me go

i reccomend combo fix and clamwin, combofix, is dangerous if not run right but you can find it online with a user guide. clamwin is just a free antivirus. you can also download loaris or trojan hunter but that costs money to purchase. Windows media player

To Update Your Windows Media player download the K-Lite codex which will come with its own player and its better than VLC player, the only advantage VLC has is that one can easily integrate subtitles of all formats, other than that K-Lite is better. Hope it helps, Goodluck =)

My computer wont let me

if you bought the computer new or the DVD drive new , you whould have got a CD with it , most probably with something like WinDVD or something , if you have the specific CD with DVD software on it install it , as it will enable you to watch DVD's using Windows media player etc..

if you bought the computer second hand etc.. and or cant find the cd's a free solution is to download VLC media player (Download here) the only disadvantage about using this free solution is that you will have to play the DVD's through VLC you wont be able to use windows media player etc. to play DVD's as VLC does not require decoder software to play DVD's

otherwise you can purchase software such as WinDVD and this will enable you to play using your media player of choice.

Thanks!

Ethernet driver for dell dimension 4600

Hi stefyboy - Below is a link where you can download your driver. After you get to the page just make sure it says Windows XP as the operating system. Then scroll down and click on the + next to where it says network. You want the intel 10/100 driver. I've included a few a ways to install it. If your kinda new to this the easiest is the download to desktop method and just remember where it unzipped it to, you can always move it to a driver directory where you can keep all your drivers for the future.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_P4_4600&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If not, DO NOT RATE YET. Just add a comment letting me know what happened and I'll be glad to assist you further. Thanks.

Dimension 4600 dvd drive keeps opening

Try this first - open up the BIOS part of the system. To do this, shut the computer off; wait at least 10 seconds; turn the computer back on and then press F2 when the Dell logo appears. Press continually until the message Entering Setup appears. In the Boot Order section, remove the CD/DVD drive from the boot order by clicking on Disable from the drop-down menu. If this doesn't fix it, please resubmit your question

Dell dimension2400 power light is orange and fan is on machine not working

A steady or Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

Why does my computer on bootup ask for system password then locks up too many attempts?

If you mean Bios password try this: Resetting the BIOS PSSWRD, Open the computer case and look inside on the motherboard. Dell has diagrams of this. Locate the Little Jumper. It should have small print if you can read on the mother board indicating PSSWRD CLR. Boot the computer to Setup. Carefully remove jumper, becareful of static, and then once removed hit enter. Shutdown the computer, and restart and enter Setup again F2. The password should be CLR. Turn OFF and PUT Jumper back into place and Turn Back ON. You should be able to access Setup. If you then boot to setup-check your hard drives and floppy that are seen. You may solve those issues in setup. If you mean the windows password: boot to F8 safe mode and log on to the ADMINISTRATOR not your log in that has admin rights. Disable all passwords and restart.
