It is the print head. Cleaning the heads does not do any good, either does replacing the ink. What you'll need to do is contact Kodak's customer service line and they can replace it for you free of charge. On this site everyone seems to be saying it is consistently the black that stops, however, based on what Kodak said it is possible that either the black or the color can have this same issue.

When you call in they will ask you for your service number, which is located on the bottom left corner of the machine, when you lift the lid (as if you were going to replace the ink). They didn't ask me when I bought it, how much I used it, etc.

They will set up a case for you - it takes 2-3 business days for the print head to arrive. They will provide you with an invoice number as well. Be sure to document it all just incase the head never comes, or if there are additional issues after you receive it (and/or if it doesn't solve the problem)

problem is likely to be the print head, the ink can dry up inside the print head and block fresh ink from flowing.

you can get print head cleaning solution from ebay, which sometimes works, or else go here to get your replacement print head

the one i have is a clip in clip out part

Look at the back of the printer, you will find 2 latches at the back of the printer, you need to press those latches to open the rear access door. once the rear access door is open you can take the paper that is stuck inside the printer.

Try cleaning the heads by running the printer through the cleaning cycle from the maintenance menu. If that does not work, you may have a color cartridge that has dried out and needs to be replaced.

Sometimes one gets a cartridge that has a defective chip and cannot be recognized by the printer. Return the cartridge where you purchased it and get a new one. If the new one is not recognized, you will need to have the printer serviced or replaced.

Hope that helps,
Bax

You can get a Kodak Bluetooth adapter made for it for around $50, or if you just want to hook it to a home wireless network, you can get a wireless print server like this http://www.nextwarehouse.com/item/?1218740_g10e
and just plug any printer you want into it.

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head. This may unblock the print head.

Do not [DO NOT] get any parts wet or attempt to wipe any parts with moistened towels.
Turn off the printer and unplug it. Look for any small bits of paper. Vacuum the area out. It is best to use low flow vacuum equipment as the air movement from the vacuum can create static electricity so be sure not to touch metal components. The faster the air flow, the greater the generation of static electricity.
If the problem is not solved, look for unpluged wires or broken connectors. If it is still not solved, some other component has failed and a good diagnostic is necessary to locate and repair it.

I got the same Problem as listed above. This is the way how I was able to solve it:
  • Remove the color and black ink cartridges and the printhead. (the 5300 Printhead can be removed by pressing a button on top of the carriage and a slight pull --> for better instructions use this official Kodak PDF)
  • Try to clean the printhead and the carriage with a slighty wet cloth from ink. CAUTION!: better not touch the green electronic chip! Be carefull while cleaning.
  • Reinstall the printhead and the ink cartridges.
  • If the printer detects a 'new' printhead just do a calibration and your are done. If not try to print a test page.

Hope this solves the Problem. Best wishes

I have a Kodak all in one printer and there seems to be a printhead issue with them. After researching it, I ordered a new one from the Kodak website and installed it (super easy with included instructions). It moves and prints like new and it was cheaper than a new printer.

Since that you already did a good troubleshooting cleaning the printhead and calibrating It and replacing the printhead., I just want to ask this How many times you already replace a printhead if its newly installed it means the problem is in the printer itself and for that you need to call kodak for printer repair toll free 1 800 421 6699

Now if the replacement printhead is more than a month and you already did all the troubleshooting it means the nozzle of the printhead is clogged you need to call kodak for printhead replacement

If you want to switch to photo mode you have to have photo paper in the printer. As for the user manual you did get one, just not in paper form. Kodak has the user manual on the software CD or you can go to kodak.com. The reason it's not in paper form is because the user manual is more than 100 pages.
