Digital display won't light up... RDSS30RS
Our digital display light is very dim. I called the parts line and they told me I would need to replace the whole display board which is 216.60 Part number 486752 No light bulb.
One of the Burners does not light.
I have the same problem and just took the cooktop apart to investigate. I disconnected the solenoid lines from the simmer controller (that is located under a metal guard to the right side under the burners) and checked them with an ohmmeter. It reads an open circuit, which suggest the solenoid is bad.
When I turn the control knob on, I also read about 100V DC on the corresponding solenoid terminals of the simmer controller. I was surprised it was that high for a DC voltage, does anyone know if that is correct? I would hate to spend $90 on a replacement solenoid valve and then have it blow because the controller is putting out too much juice.

On something like this you are going to need to access the gear box #26. As the snorkel comes down it has to trigger the lower limit switch #28 & the upper limit switch #27 for the upward movement. Take a screwdriver & push in on the switch paddles to see if one of them may be stuck. You should also be able to lift the complete snorkel out of the unit to check the alignment for binding-up. Remove panel #22 to access the gearbox & limit switches; this is where you should start at.

• Are the burner caps properly aligned and seated in the burner bases?
• Are the burner ports clogged?
• Is a fuse blown or is the circuit breaker tripped?
• Is the manual shut-off valve closed, preventing the flow of gas?

Usually the thermostat packs up during self clean as the oven generates excessive heat.
Generally one would have to be very cautious when dealing with gas appliances. I am assuming you are familiar with gas applicances and will know how to prevent any accidents when attempting to repair the appliance.
